Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m previewing tomorrow’s FA Trophy tie with Stalybridge Celtic and talking about James Walshaw.
Celtic face us on the back of a poor run of form having lost three and drawn two of their last five.
Their last league victory came in early December as they triumphed 3-0 over Boston United.
We’ve already dumped our opponents out of the FA Cup this season with a 2-1 win at Bower Fold in the Second Qualifying Round.
The two sides couldn’t be separated in the league however as a 1-1 draw was the final result of a fierce battle.
But form goes out of the window in cup games and both sides will be eager to progress.
We must improve following a dismal 4-1 defeat at Bishop Stortford. This match offers the perfect chance to showcase our talents on the big stage once more.
But one Guiseley hero who won’t feature is James Walshaw.
The striker who made his much anticipated return last week is cup tied after a spell with local rivals FC Halifax.
Despite the poor defeat last Saturday Walshaw put in a solid performance up front and showed he still has the ability to wow the Guiseley crowds.
He will be a big miss for tomorrow but our current crop that have done an excellent job so far this season must stand up and be counted.
We have a great chance to move forward in this competition and bring glory to the deserving Lions fans.
The key lies in taking the game to our opponents and establishing that we are the home side in the ascendancy.
Come on Guiseley!
That’s it for this week folks.
Next time I will review the Stalybridge and Harrogate games.
