Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m looking at our run in as we move towards the end of the season.
A tricky home tie against in form Harrogate awaits us on Tuesday night following Saturday’s lucky draw against strugglers Histon.
Two potential season defining games against league leaders Hyde and fellow play-off contenders FC Halifax are also on the
horizon.
These games will be previewed in more detail in next week’s blog.
Home games against mid table outfits Corby and Gloucester are matches in which we could slip up in as we have recently struggled against teams in the bottom half.
A long journey to Wales to face Colwyn Bay could also prove tough as they’ll be looking to avenge the 2-0 reverse fixture result.
The home battle with Altrincham, who can still chase the play-offs from seventh place, is the final league match before the County Cup final against Bradford Park Avenue at Valley Parade.
We’ll have to be at our best to keep out Altrincham’s league leading goal scorer and ex Guiseley player Damian Reeves.
The County Cup final will be a great occasion for the fans and players as two local sides square off to claim (and in our case retain) the trophy.
We travel to Stalybridge just three days later to take on our fellow play-off rivals and a side we always seem to have a good match with.
Our final home game of the season is against relegation strugglers Bishop Stortford who thumped us 4-1 earlier in the season.
That game could well prove crucial for both sides for very different reasons.
The final league encounter of the season is at Boston United, a side who we have a history with and could also be pushing for a play-off place.
Following that, who knows? Last season we came so close to a second successive promotion but were denied by a last minute Telford goal.
Could this be our year? Only time will tell.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next time I will preview the Hyde and Halifax matches.
