Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m looking at one of the tightest relegation run in’s in history.
Blyth and Eastwood are already relegated but any one of eleven teams could follow them down.
Histon currently occupy that position on 45 points but have a game in hand against the already safe Droylsden.
In a strange twist they have also yet to take on bottom placed Eastwood and top placed Hyde.
Just above them sit our local rivals Harrogate Town on 47 points who have an intriguing set of games coming up against fellow relegation candidates Colwyn Bay, Solihull Moors and Corby.
Town have dropped away significantly having gone on a good run of form but now sit perilously close to the drop zone.
They also have the worst goal difference among the relegation threatened and their captain Michael Brough is out for the season following a car crash.
Nestled just above Harrogate are Vauxhall Motors, the second of five teams on 47 points.
Motors face a tricky tie at Bishop Stortford tomorrow, a side who have blasted some teams recently and gave us a 4-1 thumping.
But they are third in the form table after winning three of their last five games.
Both Hinckley and Solihull Moors, who sit 17th and 16th respectively, face tough matches against play- off contenders Worcester and Nuneaton next.
Hinckley are missing star striker Andre Gray’s goals following his £30,000 sale to Luton last month.
Workington, the last of the sides on 47, have a six pointer with Histon still to come, while Colwyn Bay take on Harrogate in another crunch battle.
Bay will have to turn their results around quickly if they are to avoid relegation; they are bottom of the form table following six straight defeats.
Also still involved are the likes of Bishop Stortford, Gloucester and Corby on 49 points apiece.
I mentioned Stortford’s form earlier; they are still in the quagmire despite having the third highest league goal scorer Dwight Gayle on their books.
Corby will be hoping to avoid any more trouble following their poor financial plight earlier in the season.
Even Boston could still mathematically be relegated despite only needing just a point to be safe.
I’ve never seen a relegation race like it. There are sure to be many twists and turns in the weeks to come!
That’s it for this week folks.
Next time I will explore a fantasy FA Cup run.
