Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m continuing our fantasy FA Cup run.
After bulldozing Liverpool at Anfield, all eyes are on us as we make the short journey to Elland Road to face Leeds United in the Fourth Round.
Once again televised but this time on a Sunday, the town of Guiseley virtually shuts down as fans either travel to the game or watch it on television.
Some Guiseley supporters are split due to their Leeds loyalties. Greg Sturrock, a Whites season ticket holder, travels to the game in a unique “half and half” shirt displaying both team’s colours.
The game is once again exciting as the lads combat two Ross McCormack goals to triumph 3-2 through three shocking defensive errors that leave Neil Warnock seething.
Regular Guiseley supporter Dennis is rescued by a group of Guiseley fans after an altercation with an automatic door in the Ken Bates suite.
Journalists are queuing outside Steve Kittrick’s house straight after the tie. Sky Sports News reporter Jim White offers him a plate of haggis as he leaves for his day job.
As Arsenal storm the Premier League, we are handed a tie at the Emirates in the Fifth Round following their 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United the previous week.
However, the Nethermoor fans are confident ahead of the game as Arsenal face Real Madrid in the Champions League in mid-week and may be tempted to field a weakened team.
But with the likes of Vermaelen and Van Persie trying to steal the show, the Londoners are stunned by four first half goals, including a stunning Simon Ainge header from the 18 yard line.
Rothery hits another cup hat trick to effectively seal the tie and leave Kitty and co. in an usual relaxed position in the second half.
As Arsene Wenger blames the referee for the loss just like Kenny Dalglish did, Chris Holland gives the Frenchman a piece of his mind in front of the television cameras.
Guiseley await the Quarter Final draw in an exclusive hotel and are filmed jumping for joy when they seal a tie with Chelsea.
Billionaire Roman Ambramovich invites Kitty on to one of his many boats to offer Guiseley a free hotel stay.
The Chelsea owner is impressed and is rumoured to be scouting several Guiseley assets including Branislav Ivanovic’s body double Simon Ainge.
The match is 0-0 until the 90th minute where following Chelsea hitting both posts and a crossbar, Danny Ellis runs the length of the pitch and rounds Petr Cech to net the winner.
He reveals an undershirt advertising the Guiseley Soccer School which is now running weekly sessions as he celebrates.
The players and management spend the night celebrating with the supporters across London’s pubs.
The Sun’s front page features the team celebrating with James Marshall in the Chelsea changing rooms.
More celebrations ensue when Guiseley are drawn against Manchester City in the Semi Final at Wembley.
Roberto Mancini is quick to congratulate Guiseley on their achievements and seeks advice from Sir Alex Ferguson about how to play mind games.
With thousands of newly produced Guiseley flags designed by Rachel O’Connor waved at Wembley on the day, Guiseley outwit City’s billionaire squad.
Ainge’s trickery, Merris’ pace and Walshaw’s sublime finishing are all too much for the beleaguered opposition.
All three team up to net not once but twice as they danced round the City defence with ease.
Manchester City and Guiseley supporter Chris Clegg encounters a whirlwind of emotions throughout the game but raises many glasses with Graham Wild after the game.
Wild, himself victorious in an FA appeal following his fourth qualifying round pitch dash, drinks the bar dry and leaves many supporters thirsty.
As Manchester United defeat Tottenham 1-0 in the other semi-final the stage is set for a fascinating Final.
With United the subject of disdain among the Nethermoor faithful, flags and banners are created asking United if they wish they had Simon Ainge who scores when he wants.
The game is the most amazing in the FA Cup run.
We take the lead four times through goals from Ellis, Merris, Toner and Walshaw but are pegged back four times through a Wayne Rooney hat trick and a controversial Javier Hernandez header.
With 5 minutes to go, Chris Senior picks up a pass from Ciaran Toner, pings the ball up over the head of Ryan Giggs and smashes the ball past David De Gea in a Robin Van Persie like volley.
United throw the kitchen sink at us in the last 300 seconds as Howard Webb awards a deeply controversial seven minutes of added time.
During added time Guiseley hearts sink as he awards United a suspicious penalty but Steven Drench repeats his play-off semi-final second leg heroics to save Wayne Rooney’s kick and clutch the ball.
As the referee blows his whistle Guiseley fans, filling one complete side of Wembley, jump for joy.
After lifting the trophy to rapturous cheers, the players and management complete three laps of honour and throw their shirts in to the Guiseley fans.
The historic day is followed by a tour bus parade of Guiseley and a knighthood for Kitty.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next week I will reflect on the play-offs so far.
