Do any of you remember how there was going to be an Official Fan's Forum sometime around September/October last season? Well, this never actually happened, but wouldn't it be good if we could have one now?
This could be an event where all the officials, supporters and anyone else concerned got to sit down and talk with each other about the future direction of the club and could honestly voice our opinions in a structured and organized way.
Even if the club wouldn't agree to a proper meeting couldn't we set up a sort of online question and answer session where all the (sensible) questions we had could be formally addressed and answered via this semi-official format so that the supporters could actually feel a real part of what the club was doing? And couldn't the management just take a little time to reassure the supporters that they actually matter?
The management of the club should feel extremely grateful that despite the absence of anything to cheer for several weeks now the supporters are still talking about getting behind the club and not many are talking about walking away. Guiseley supporters have been criticized in the past for being quiet and for not chanting or really getting behind the team, but far from deserting the ship in these past few weeks the talk between us has still been all about trying to raise some chants and how to behave like 'proper fans'. In short, just at a time when most clubs would actually be losing a lot of supporters the opposite seems to be true at Nethermoor and it's as if we've been 'making our own fun' in the absence of anything to cheer out on the pitch.
As regards the Manager's comments about the Forum, and Adam's recent upset regarding that, I personally won't hear a serious word against him (Adam) from anyone. We all know he tends to 'laugh a lot', but he's a gem of a true supporter and to suggest that people like him (and the rest of us) are only 'so called supporters' is a totally thoughtless sort of thing to say. A lot of us were here before the present regime commenced, and a lot of us will still be here after they've gone...
Maybe I've rabbitted on too long already, but I just long for things to be sorted out so we can all move in one direction with a renewed sense of fun and a lot more clarity about where we’re actually going.
Anyone else agree?
