The Guiseley Community Foundation in partnership with FA Licensed Coach Bernie Lyons will soon be hosting walking football every week at Nethermoor. This popular new form of the game follows the usual rules of 5-a-side (though with teams of up to seven), except that you can’t run or slide tackle. This creates a level playing field so that anyone over 50 can take part, making walking football a great way to socialise, get fit and enjoy playing the game. Bernie is a long-time Guiseley AFC supporter and currently runs a group in Ilkley on Friday. The sessions will take place at noon and 7pm on Wednesdays. Each session will last one hour. There’s no upper age limit, and we do suggest you have recently continued or begun some gentle exercise, to reduce any chance of injury. If you’re interested, you can read more about walking football on Bernie’s website, or register your interest in taking part: E-mail: walkingfootball@guiseleyafc.co.uk Telephone: 01943 430499 Mobile / Text: 07866 100072 From www.guiseleyafc.co.uk Link to Bernie's website and application form is on here: guiseleyafc.co.uk/community-news/walking-football-coming-soon/AB

Nowadays, I think I'd better hold out for lying-down football.
