Website:
www.buxtonfc.co.uk Note:This has horrible, almost strobing lights at the top of the opening page, and I defy anyone to look at it for more than a minute without wanting to throw up...
Forum:
Via link on www.buxtonfc.co.uk Note:Their Forum is identical in layout and design to ours - probably because it's the very same server... Tried to join to have a look, but got the following message back: "The Forum is intended for supporters of Buxton FC only and all new members will now have to apply to join the Forum" so it looks they only want to chat amongst themselves. Members have to be 'vetted' so it's unlikely that I'll get in because I've used my usual Forum travelling handle of "guiseleyfan" to join. Would have tried again using some other handle, but the Forum carries the same horrible lighting effects, and I was beginning to feel quite sick...The blighters!
Last few times v Guiseley:
Crucial defeats for The Lions in two hard encounters last season. Game at Guiseley only memorable due to a late, late winner from them with a fairly decent strike from what seemed like the far side of Netherfield Road.
News from the close season:
New signings include Scott Brodie from Witton Albion, and Danny Smith from Barnsley. Another 'new recruit' is one Gavin Knight, formerly of this parish, and who played in yesterday's 2-2 draw at Hatfield Main. Heck, they choose some really glamorous places for their travels, wouldn't you say?
What we do think of them and/or how much do they annoy us?:
Just pipped us for a play-off place by a single point last season, so we could be said to have blown our chances just on the strength of our two bad results against them. Apart from that, they seemed a pretty unimaginative lot, although neater and tidier and more honest in their football than their 'neighbours' who came up with them last season (For the uninitiated, we mean Eastw**d T**n. I don't think we dare let the Bard write that particular feature but we might just start a poll on that to let the rest of you decide!)
What's their Forum like?
Seemingly as inaccesible as the Cold War Soviet Union. And probably just as enticing if we ever got a look...
Likely prospects this season:
About seventh or eighth? Nothing there to suggest anything more earth shattering that that. Hope we've done our homework on them after last season's disappointing showing because they really weren't as good as we probably made them look.
