In particular may i respond to frank, we have told Dicko the situation if he is not happy with it theres not alot we can do about it .He knows that we think very highly of him but Guisely fc is not just about him it is about a squad of 18-20 players. If anyone has a problem with competition for places they are in the wrong place because thats what we want. This surely must have a positive inpact on the team!

To mrs glamour puss dicko is undeniably a quality keeper but i guess ur quite closely linked with him.Could i ask that not everyone is as judgemental as you piotr is a good keeper and deserves a bit of respect, sometimes people reserve judgement on people until theyve seen trhem a few times but not anyone connected to the great man obviously

I think you are right to a certain extent Wayne, as competition for places does give certain players a degree of motivation they may not otherwise have if they become comfortable. My point would be that it can also demotivate players if they lose their place to the competition when it may well be unjust and a particular players performance does not warrant being left out. If other players recognise this then it has the potential to affect the squad, which is something we do not want at this stage of the season.

Well done Benno for getting into the forum - you managed to get a few ghosts out of the woodwork and got them posting.
As far as Dicko and Ellis are concerned both are top players at this level and i hope that they remain as part of the squad for the next few seasons and finally win promotion to the B Sq north - i think they deserve that for their efforts don't you?. You notice i use the word SQUAD because that is no doubt what we need as a club and yes competition is healthy. I just hope that you can get the balance right, and keep the squad happy - this is where the danger is and the bit where you will succeed or fail if you get it wrong.......so please get it right!

Thanks bluner and richard for ur posts u really need to believe me when talking about Dicko. Both me and steve rate the lad very highly but as ive said in previous posts sometimes we have to make decisions that arent popular but its not to be stubborn its with the best interest of the squad at heart.I once believe it or not was as popular if not more than Dicko at bpa being their record appearance holder but as ive already said its not about me or Dicko or any individual.Iwas shipped out when it was thought that i was past my sell by date and needless to say ididnt agree with the decision but you get on with things.Im not saying for one second that Dicko should cut his losses,we want him with us what more can i say on the matter but we wont be pressured in to picking him because he is a popular player with the fans.As i said i played over 400 games for BPA but it counted for nothing when they felt my time had come this is (I really must look this word up) not the case with Dicko but hopefully he will rise to the challenge and not ask to leave and work hard to make sure it is he that is in the team

What worries me is that if Wayne and Steve get it wrong they will be out of the door dragging their mates behind them and Guiseley will be left with a decimated team. We were 4th in the league when they arrived we didn't need major surgery. Danny Ellis is the best centre back in this league and yet he has been told he won't be playing in that position again, WHAT! I do agree they have brought in 2 or 3 very useful additions to the squad in positions where we did need strength but don't make changes for changes sake. Nobody wants success for Guiseley AFC more than I do but I do worry about too much change all at once to what was basically a good team. And Wayne you say that some postings on this subject are perhaps from people close to certain players and I take it you think that is affecting their judgement, couldn't the same be said for yourselves and some of the players you are bringing in.

My final post for today after a day on the ale is that no one is irreplaceable. This may be a really bad comparison but does anyone question Sir Alex Ferguson when he ditches paul ince and brings through roy keane or when he replaces becks with ronaldo sometimes things that happen behind the scenes can have you questioning the management but all we ask is that you trust us to look after your clubIn fairness the majority of the fans seem to be with us long me that continue!

Disguislee i hope ur still online with regards to ur post.Let me set the record straight with regard to danny ellis at no poit has he ever been told that he wont play centre half. This is simply untrue and i agree about him being one of the best centre halves in this league but then havent we got three of the best centr halves in this league?Cant we accept that having three top class centre halves is a positive rather than a negative

I agree in principle with everything you have said Wayne, however I have one question which remains unanswered.
With all the talk of competition for places how/ why does the new keeper walk straight in to the starting line up?
He must have only signed Thursday/ Friday and therefore has only trained once if at all with the team. So if there is competition for places what did he do to start on Saturday.
My final point is have you read the club statement regarding Dicko, and is this the true situation or a smoke screen.
Thanks for the open and honest posts, we will see what the future brings ....
regards
WL

Wayne you have changed glamour 12345 to mrs glamour puss that is quite an assumption on your part and your reference to having connection to the great one is no way to respond. You ask for respect for the new keeper. Respect works both ways. I think the post made by whitelions is absolutely spot on and indicates the reason there has been such a response to the way this affair has been handled by the club.
