early days as its was the 1st game, loads of room for improvement man of the match was their no2 by a country mile.muller brown and hanson will score plenty im concerned regarding the defence.cammel no great shakes but opened us up at the bac very easily on occasions and better teams will punish us.but like i say early days and plenty to work on but points on the board without hitting top gear is not a bad start.

Thought Guiseley were lucky in the second half when Neil Black had 3 good ops to score (hitting the post once). I don't think its wise to put a "worst man of the match" up for your own players. What if he reads it and sticks two fingers up to the club?
Lee Crooks played well I thought, but looked unfit.
Can't believe the ref played 9 minutes of injury time, with Browny scoring on 98. I bet Browny didn't care though.

Merris was declared MoM in the clubhouse afterwards and I'll go with that. It was a funny old game really but probably typical for an opening match. Whilsts accepting the point made about the Cammell chances and opening up the defence I thought we did the same to them at times, especially initial spell in the first and second halves. We perhaps didn't get the ball down as much as we could have done but lets credit the other team for stopping our threats reasonably well. I felt we missed Hanson greatly simply for his height and physical presence. All in all the league is a marathon and not a sprint as they say so at least we have crossed the start line positively.

Lets not start a witch hunt,4or5 players were not at the races today.I think to start having moan and naming players about a poor game is stupid!! Players I'm sure read the forum and have feelings ,so think before slagging off players, and naming them!!3 points is 3points, yes we did play poorly ,thought we missed James big time, but form is temporary ,but class is permanent ,NFU you been warned

Bound to take a couple of games to blend i reckon and we still have injured players to come back into the reckoning.

Would just like to say despite the poor overall performance we got the (3) points we have several new player who need time to gel and get to know each other, Hanson in my eyes has to play when fit with who thats the managements decision but i thought muller was man of the match today come on guys lets get behind the team nothing is won in august!

typical Adambrid comment with a worst man of the match - has he begun the witchhunt already - if i could swear on here I would consider it, but we all know who The Worst Supporter of the match was...

Football cliché number 576.... the sign of a good team is when it wins without playing well.
Keep playing poorly and winning!

What the management are planning is to play like Brasil and to win. The supporters want this too. Does anyone want to watch dull football even if the results are coming? I wasn't there yesterday but entertaining and skilful football is what will keep me coming back. Anyway, it's early days.

I agree with most of what you guys have said, performance wise we werent great. The most important thing though was to get 3 points, opening days can be very tense affairs and i think that was the case yesterday we looked nervous and that in turn uses up a lot of energy.Only 3 or 4 players played anywhere near what they are capable of so that bodes well for the future, there will be better days ahead for individuals and the team.As you all know we want our team to play entertaining and attractive football but its got to end up more often than not with a win, what we cant overlook though is that teams will come to Nethermoor and make life difficult by playing 4-5-1 like Cammel Laird did yesterday. We are not going to get an easy ride against anybody this season and you guys as well as the players need to accept that. There will be some scrappy games along the way but as long as we win them then we will do well.Anyway on to Ferriby and we will be looking for a much improved performance but with the same result, the pitch is fantastic over there which should suit us but again we need to prepare for a tough game,we were very good away from home last season, lets hope that continues.

Sometimes quality is better than quantity. (I'll leave it for you to decide whether I am referring to on the field tac-ticks or to forum posting behaviour).

I thought their 4-5-1 played into our hands a bit in the second half. They were finding a lot of space, and if they'd committed the extra man forward they'd have caused us problems.
It was the sort of game fans at Nethermoor have got used to over the last five years or so: going ahead fairly early on, failing to find the killer goal, absorbing a lot of pressure in the second half and conceding a daft equalizer ten minutes from time. That's why we all look fifteen years older than we really are (apart from Adam, obviously).
Still, at least we managed to change the last page of the script this time. Onwards and upwards!
