Given the choice, would you like the club to try to to restore our old stand or replace it with something entirely new?...

I voted to build a brand new stand only because the ground could do with a boost and hopefully a new stand would have no view restricting beams

I would go for new, finances permitting and if the club wishes to move forward and meet ever changing standards of Conference North. Its not my hand going into my pocket, but anyone thats been to Worksops ground (pre Huchnall that is) cant have failed to notice the temporary / permanent seats behind one goal. Ready assembled, delivered on the back of a lorry, drop into place and away you go. A quick fix as they say

Build a new one for goodness sake. The old one was the oldest bar none anywhere having started its time somewhere behind Harry Ramsden's as a band stand then moved to the footy pitch before 99% of the supporters were born!
Lets get on with it!

Richard the reason you state for getting rid of the old stand are just my reasons for restoring it. There isn't much of the old Guiseley that I was brought up in left and that stand to me is Nethermoor Park. Build another stand by all means but not there. In fact I think it should be made a listed building!!!!! I know I am in the minority and I am a great believer in democracy but to me it will be a sad day if and when it is demolished.

I'd also miss the old stand, although it'll have to go some day, and I suppose it might be now.
On a slightly more personal note though, there are so many 'new' people in Guiseley these days and it's a pity more of them don't watch the team. I was born here as well as being brought up here, and there's not many people outside Nethermoor who can honestly say that these days. I think we'll always be a 'local' club, and we've never really lost that feel...
The surest sign that the town has changed is that I can walk round Guiseley Morrison's and most times now I don't see a soul that I know, and have you tried listening out for a genuine Guiseley accent amonsgt all the 'pseudo middle class metro drawl' that now seems to have replaced all the really original and genuine Guiseley yatter?
Granted I live in Yeadon now, but it's telling you something when you no longer recognize a face in your former home town, and I can sometimes get all the way down to Fort Nethermoor before I see anyone I know...

It's a bit like the two lions walking down Blackpool seafront and one says. "Not many people about for a Bank Holiday".
Perhaps all the Guiseleyites in Morrison's dodge behind the cereal display when they see you coming. ;D
On the subject of the thread, I wonder how many Harry Ramsden's customers said, "It won't be the same if we replace that old bandstand..."

A sure sign of change in Guiseley is that there's a Morrisons on the old car park opposite the library!
The old stand's looked in a pretty sad state for a number of years. Best thing to do is sell it to the Yanks and build a new one.

How about having one side of the ground for the new Guiseley folk of yeadoner's imagination (cafe bars, internet connections, prawn sandwiches etc) and the other for the traditional old timers (DIY items and Unibond glue in the club shop, pies, bus stops etc)?
