I fully admit that I’m wearing my grumpy hat to say this, but can we do something about the pre-match and half time music at the ground?
It’s pretty deafening anyway, but why did it have to continue during the 50/50 draw results at half time yesterday? I wouldn’t have known the winning numbers without the scoreboard, so it’s a good job that was working on the day.
I’m thinking of either holding off from getting into the ground until a minute before the kick-off, and then wearing some heavy duty earphones whilst I listen to Radio 3 (or Classic FM) during half time to try to deal with it.
Please can we do something about this, if only to help me to be less grumpy than I usually am?
………………

Yeadoner it was more noticeable than usual at half time, maybe person responsible went to the loo. As to music played at other times maybe we could make it a request show with donations going to Raise the Roof.

I thought the half time noise was pretty dreadful, but there’s always the possibility that others might not be as grumpy as I am. That’s a good idea about sponsoring the half time music. I’d pay for a bit of Brahms or even REM during half time…

I like the idea of sponsoring music at half time - good idea!
For every one person for whom the music is too loud there is someone else who thinks announcements are too quiet. A sad fact of the speaker locations. I wouldn’t want to wade into a debate about what music is noise and what is pleasant - personally I'm not a fan of Brahms but I’d like a bit of Ella Fitzgerald- my son would moan at that though! Anyway, I think we are all pretty approachable so do pop and have a chat - forum rants always sound worse than I’m sure they are intended.

Personally think they play a nice mix if music but i definitely love the idea of requests and a donation system..
I would be willing along with a few friends to look at adding some new speakers around the ground? If that is something the Radio team would like?

Personally i think the current choice of “top tunes” is fantastic, hits the bullseye etc

What sort of price would we all be happy to pay for our fave rave choon to be heard? Even if we had 5 people paying £10 a pop, that would be an easy £50 towards the roof…
I accept that Brahms would be inappropriate, but I think I’d be happy to pay for a bit of REM…

New Speakers/ new formation of existing speakers around the ground has been discussed in the past but I’d like to keep talking about it! (But I also know There are some physical restrictions to how many we can have and where). I have a wish list but may need to win the lottery in order to do it!

I think you’ll find the variable volume at a given point in the ground at a given time yesterday was down to the swirling wind. That’s nature for you. Nobody died.
Keep up the good work with the excellent eclectic choice of classics pop/rock tunes which invariably have those on the cricket side of the ground singing along at some point after a beer or two.

So long as there’s a variety we can all be equally discontent with it.
Or yeah, why not, I’d put in a few quid to make you all listen to country music.

For every person that says it's too loud, there'll be people that think it isn't quite loud enough depending on where they are in the ground.
The issues, as noted above are a mixture of speaker location, speaker age/quality, and weather/wind conditions.
This is a long term issue though, that would cost a fairly large chunk of money to put right. If I'm right in remembering, there aren't any speakers at all on the clubhouse side except for a couple by turnstile 1 & 2, meaning that whilst it may seem loud on the seated stand side, the PA system is very quiet over by the George Stocks stand.
In a money-no-object scenario, the whole PA system, speakers, and broadcast kit would be updated with speakers relocated around the ground. Sadly, we don't live in a money-no-object world right now.
Perhaps it's something that could be looked at with the potential ground improvements. A brand new modern set of speakers installed around the ground with some at the railway end to cover the away end + George Stocks stand would be a huge boost.
As regards the music itself, it's impossible to please everyone. The sponsored playlist is a pretty interesting idea though! As long as it's loud enough for those folk over in the George Stocks stand to hear it too.

Seems to remember in years gone by that we played song by local up&coming bands at Nethermoor at half-time. Thought that was a really good idea to help local bands music be heard by the attendance. You never know who might have attended the game that day & heard a local band etc etc.

As another special feature, I’ve just been thinking how good it would be to have Guiseley Brass Band playing at half time. It would be a wonderful throw back to the days of yore, and I think the majority of fans would love it…
Can you imagine them on the pitch and playing carols at our Christmas games? I know I can, and I think it would be superb.

It’s a shame we couldn’t allow cigar smoking for the day, and hand out a free totty of rum or brandy, too, but let’s not push things too far just yet. I’d be happy enough for now with the brass band…
