A tight game today with few chances but we had some good openings to take all three points. Qasim had the first chance of the game when his shot cannoned off of the bar and bounced in front of the line, the keeper had no chance stopping it and the bar may well still be shaking now! After 15 minutes of scrappy play it took a penalty decision to break the deadlock after Cassidy’s knockdown was handled by a home defender. Chippendale stepped up to score from the spot for the second away game on the spin. In the final 10 minutes of the half Toni’s shot from 20 yards out but it trickled through to Trenerry for an easy stop. As approached added time Ackroyd won a free kick but his shot was straight at Belford. We started the second half on the front foot and eight minutes in Cassidy cut out a short back pass but his pass to Qasim was intercepted by a home defender just as the striker was about to shoot. Qasim again had a chance on the volley in the area but Belford was alert to stop the danger. Then with 15 minutes left Stafford got a penalty from an adjudged handball which our players seemed unhappy about. Tonks didn’t care though and leveled the scores. With 10 minutes left Qasim created a chance for himself out of nothing but couldn’t beat an advancing Belford. Then the best chance of the lot fell to Qasim when Haw teed up the striker after good work but he shot over from a tight angle. That was that, we had to settle for a point, a good point but it could have been so much more. Well played Guiseley! Onto Macclesfield in the FA Trophy on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Last season there was a period of 10 games between 12th Feb and 5th Apr where we only managed to score goals in one match - the remaining nine matches we were unable to find the net.
In the last 10 games (all competitions) we have scored in every game bar one.
Result aside today that is an incredible turnaround for a club who seriously struggled to score goals week in week out at the end of last season.

Think it's a measure of how far we have come this season that we are genuinely dissapointed to not have won this one.

Good workmanlike display from Guiseley. Unlucky not to come away with all the points we had the better chances. Another day Mo would have had a hat trick great display from Mo find of the season so far. Onwards and upwards.

I felt a bit disappointed not to come away with the win but can’t fault the players. It was a fairly even match, but I think we did edge it on clear chances with Qasim hitting the bar through an audacious effort in the first half and not quite managing to convert two great chances after the equaliser. The defensive display was excellent, and we look so much better going forward with the likes of Chippendale and Walker than earlier in the season. A solid display against a well organised Stafford side and that is now five unbeaten in the league.

really important that we showed we can take a point from a relatively ugly match, and we probably deserved 3. The team look together and determined.

Something of a disappointing draw in the end, although arguably a decent point away from home. It wasn’t pretty with the ball spending for too much time in the air but Guiseley had the bulk of the decent chances, Qasim hit the bar in the first half and spurned two very decent chances in the second while Chippendale was denied by some last ditch defending. Stafford’s main threat came from long throw ins and set pieces but Guiseley’s back four defended stoutly throughout. Danny Ellis was immense once again and in my view has to play in as many matches as possible. Lebrun Mbeka was also superb in the back four, closely followed by both fullbacks. Chippendale and Ackroyd got forward well to support Cassidy. Guiseley have improved significantly over the past month and we look much more organised, creative and threatening going forward. A very good October so far (excluding the County Cup) - played 5 won 3 drawn 2. If we can keep that up we wil be in the mix later in the season. On to Macclesfield in the Trophy next week. They are top of the NPL West Division with 24 points from 11 matches but they have lost 3 including losing at home yesterday. It will be an interesting match in front of 3000+ fans.
