I’m happy that I went to the ‘meet the managers’ meeting a few weeks ago as it gave me an insight of how the managers viewed their ambitions and I came away reassured that if they went through this league they’d have the backing of the board to push on.
In todays performance I saw everything they’d spoken about. Determination, togetherness, skill, tactics etc. They showed guile, nounce to get the odd free kick, resilience. Their signings have been spot on for the areas of the pitch where we needed them.
I wasn’t sure how quickly this turnaround would take but in the last month the change in the team is immeasurable. They look a totally different proposition. Hard to break down, threatening on attack, interchangeable players, it just looks so much different which is great.
They’ve put a smile on the fans faces as well as their own and hopefully we can get more fans home and away to enjoy the next chapter for the club.
I didn’t think this largest oil tanker in the world was for turning so quickly but in Danny E and Danny F we have two great pilots and whilst it’s early days we are all enjoying the brand of football they are providing. Let’s hope they stay under the radar when the BCFC and Barcelona jobs come up (meet the managers reference).
I’ve not even had a drink so cannot be accused of the beer taking control lol!!

Great result and performance from Guiseley yesterday. Guiseley never allowed Macclesfield to get going. Every player played their part yesterday but Joe Ackroyd was immense what a performance. Great support from the Guiseley fans yesterday very happy coach going and coming home. Never been to a game where I’ve had to wear a wrist band ( thought it was all inclusive) Then the ball brought on by remote controlled car ( first round of the trophy not the World Cup) Stewards were a bit of jobs worth’s standing in front of us so we couldn’t see the team at the end. But was ok when the team came in front of them. Great day out great result well done to all concerned 👏👏👏👏. Onwards and upwards.

I must admit I wasn’t very optimistic about our chances before yesterday’s match - based on Macclesfield’s resources and league position, their home advantage and the fact they dumped Bamber Bridge out 6 - 1 in the previous round. When I saw Danny Ellis limp out of the warm up with what looked like a hamstring problem I was even less optimistic! However, I am delighted to say I was completely wrong. Guiseley were really excellent all over the pitch yesterday. They dominated the game for large periods, pressed Macclesfield very well from the off which ensured they never got properly into the game, defended very well as a unit which meant very few goalscoring opportunities for the home side and took a couple of the many chances created to comfortably win a match which they thoroughly deserved to win - a bigger winning margin would have been a fair reflection of Guiseley’s domination of a surprisingly poor home side. And a clean sheet - only the third of the season.
Hard to pick out individuals in what was such an excellent team performance but I would call out two. Firstly, Lebrun Mbeka who for me has been outstanding since returning to the club and once again yesterday delivered a towering performance in defence, all the more impressive as he was going to be playing in midfield up to 10 minutes before kick off when Danny Ellis was injured. Second is Joe Ackroyd, his energy and commitment, determination and ability to be a nuisance all over the pitch was great to see - I think his passion rubs off on the rest of the team and the fans alike, so pleased we have secured his services until the end of the year.
October has been very good - six matches played in League and FA Trophy with four wins and two draws the outcome. Now undefeated in seven the team has come a long way since that awful afternoon at Blyth in mid September. Several new players have come in - all better than those they replaced in my view and the team looks better organised, more settled and much more confident. Plenty to be positive about.
