As comfortable as you like this afternoon, Joe Ackroyd’s early header set the tone. Jake Cassidy doubled our advantage 34 minutes in and Trenerry was untested all afternoon. It started with Nicky Walker’s shot that flew over but he made no mistake from his corner a few minutes later. He picked out Ackroyd who powered home to break the deadlock. Macclesfield replied with a chance of their own when Curran headed straight at Trenerry. Kengni nearly had a chance to test Trenerry but Boateng made a good block to stop the shot. Cassidy came really close to doubling the lead when his shot just trickled wide with the Macc keeper beaten. Kengni again had a good chance when we lost possession at the back but he showed no composure and fired well over. Cassidy did take his next chance though when he swiveled in the box and beat the keeper with a good finish. Walker hit the side netting with a shot before Ackroyd volleyed straight at the keeper. Qasim, Daly and Ackroyd all went close early in the second half as we continued our good performance after the break. Walker and Dean also looked to add to the lead but it wasn’t to be. Smith made a good return from injury but Daly picked up one of his own and had to be withdrawn early, let’s hope that isn’t too serious. That was that, another excellent performance and well deserved win to make it seven unbeaten! A great performance once again and into the hat for Monday’s second round draw. Well played Guiseley! Onto a home game against Warrington Town on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Danny Whittaker, Macclesfield’s manager, has just been sacked.

Have to say, having heard Robbie Savage on 5 Live crowing about thrashing Belper in the last round, this is very very satisfying indeed.
But to sack your manager when you’re top of the league with games in hand? Without knowing more, that seems ridiculous.

I was surprised how poor Macclesfield were today but sacking your manager when you are top of the league is bizarre - and Savage is always going on about giving managers a chance on his 606 programme, so smacks of hypocrisy.
By the way Nick it was Bamber Bridge not Belper they thrashed in the last round.

I should also add that one of the reasons Macclesfield were poor is that Guiseley were excellent!!

We were brilliant today. If Macclesfield were flat it’s because we took the game to them from the off. Fantastic performances all around the pitch and brilliant support. Feels like something special is building.
Suspect we won’t hear much about Macclesfield on 606 tonight from Savage…

What I enjoyed most about today's performance was the sheer togetherness of the team. A great credit to both players and management and I think fans too

Madness. Nobody can stand losing to little old Guiseley, can they? Everyone expects to just beat us. I think we'll claim a few more naive chairmen the way this team are playing.

Lost count of the number of opposition managers that have bee sacked after we defeated them. We call it the ‘even Guiseley’ syndrome. Let them sack their managers I say (the fools)…I’d like us to stick with ours in the good and the thin times. I have to say I think this sacking feels particularly harsh. Contributed by the fact that we are always underestimated- remember how we irritated Stockport by consistently beating them?

Contributed by the fact that we are always underestimated- remember how we irritated Stockport by consistently beating them? Going back a little while, the same thing applied with Halifax- or MassiveFax as they were so comically named on here. They were so convinced that they only had to turn up for us to shiver and roll over, and it was a mistake that cost them dear just as it has now with these others. I think we’re a club at ease with itself again, and long may this happy state continue. In The Two Dans we are very happy to trust…
