The Isuzu FA Trophy third round draw was held live on talkSPORT2 this afternoon. The Lions will host FC Halifax Town in a fixture scheduled to be played on Saturday 17th December. Ticket details and matchday information will be confirmed in the coming days. Two victories on the road at Warrington Town and Macclesfield following a 3-1 home win over Whitby Town have progressed Danny Forrest’s side to the third round. Our league trip to Whitby Town on Saturday 17th December will now be rearranged due to a clash with our continued involvement in the Isuzu FA Trophy. Hopefully a decent crowd (with plenty of stewards please) and hopefully everyone will by then be in better spirits than most of us feel right now after a very grim few days.

I must admit I was hoping for either a lower ranked side or a Scunthorpe/Notts County/Oldham away or at home. Halifax are a huge challenge but also fairly familiar opponents so this tie didn’t jump out.
That said, we could use a shot in the arm so fingers crossed for a spirit lifting performance and occasion resulting in a plucky win over our massive opponents.
Curiously managers have lost their jobs after both of our FA Trophy ties. In both cases they were popular club legends, and in both cases I don’t think anyone saw it coming.
Onwards and upwards.

Good draw but disappointing to lose the over-nighter to Whitby. Hoping the Whitby game is rescheduled for a Saturday not a Tuesday. We are overwhelming underdogs but there should be a good crowd hopefully and you never know…
