We can confirm our trip to Marine on Saturday 10th December has been called off due to widespread illness within our squad. We wish everyone affected a speedy recovery. The trip to Merseyside will now be rearranged and a new date will be announced in due course. We will return to action on Saturday 17th December in the Isuzu FA Trophy against FC Halifax Town at Nethermoor in the third round of the competition. Tickets for the game can be purchased online now or at the turnstiles on the day by cash payment only. Full confirmation: guiseleyafc.co.uk/match-off-marine-away/AB

Are we allowed to know whether it’s Covid or not? I think it would be good if that was confirmed either way given that some of our supporters or helpers may have have mixed with some of the affected people.

I think you ask a reasonable question Yeadoner. I was surprised that there has been no response officially from the club other than a brief twitter message.
Many of us spent several hours in the company of the players on Saturday post match. I think the club should at least acknowledge the nature of the illnesses so that those in contact know what the virus is.
I think this, amongst with other recent bad press, shows we need an employee to to deal with these issues. Leaving it to the good will of volunteers is not good enough.
Come on Guiseley let’s become pro active than reactive as we’re becoming a bit of a laughing stock.

That’d be lovely, I just don’t know if it’s something you’d want to reduce the playing budget or take money out of capital projects like the pitch and (hopefully) ground improvement plans for.

No one tells me nothing of course, but given the levels of it in the community, and all the other bugs running riot and really enjoying all the post-lockdown freedom, it’s reasonable to assume that at least some of it is Covid. We still have people at my work testing positive even now. But there’s also Scarlet Fever and a plethora of sickness bugs ahoy out there, as anyone with young kids will be all too aware. I also think it’s worth pointing out that ‘The Club’ has a responsibility to protect the private information of its employees so won’t be able to say who’s ill or with what. That’s pretty basic GDPR. You wouldn’t want your employer making your info public, after all. So it’s not a conspiracy or anything. Hope all involved get well soon, and everyone else keeps well too.

As an aside from Illness-Gate (My own suspicions would be Flu or StrepA rather than Covid) does anyone know if the game would have gone ahead given the cold weather. I know Marine have a 3G pitch but wondered (ahead of next season) do these pitches get frozen and unplayable too….

Whilst my thoughts are foremost with the squad obviously, who I wish a speedy and full recovery to, as health is everything. At the same time though, spare one for Marine FC and their supporters, who as a consequence of the call off must be frustrated to have lost revenue and camaraderie from their last home game before Xmas/New Year? Also to our travelling support who would no doubt have been eager to make the festive trip to Merseyside. Keep safe everyone....

Then two more that say “sometimes”. So in conclusion, I don’t know.

Marine away has been rearranged for Saturday 11th March: guiseleyafc.co.uk/marine-trip-given-new-date/ That Saturday had been left blank by the league at the start of the season to aid fixture congestion and as all games were off in the division on Saturday they will now all take place on this new date.
