I thought Ekow Coker did well last night up against Dieseruwve, and looked pretty solid alongside Jameel. George had another solid night, and good to see Chippendale and Kellett back to something approaching full fitness. Probably one of the benefits of that unexpected fortnight off. Thought we were probably the better team in the second half, but once in front Halifax just managed the game well, and we couldn’t quite break through a very tough defence.

A pretty even game aside from one moment of quality where their man was allowed to turn and get a shot off. Given Halifax are two leagues higher, I think that can be forgiven.
There was enough there to be encouraged for the second half of the league season. I thought the new striker looked very promising, central midfield is finally starting to look up to the job (though that will depend on players remaining available) and the bench was very strong, even without Cassidy (who I presume was simply being rested, unless I've missed some news?)

My understanding is that he was there last night, but injured. Paul said in post match interview he may be a couple of weeks away. Bit of a blow, but an opportunity for Angus or Kallan Murphy to step up!

A tight game last night with only a moment of real quality and class separating the two sides. It looked like it could be a long night when FCHT hit the post direct from a corner in the first minute but it wasn't a sign of things to come. We had some good chances in the first half and Sam Johnson did well to deny Angus Chapman, Lewis Whitham and Callum Chippendale. It was Festus Arthur who broke the deadlock 19 minutes in with a well taken finish high into the roof of the net leaving Kyle Trenerry with no chance of stopping it. We continued to press and Chapman came oh so close to embarrassing Johnson when he blocked his clearance but the ball just didn't have enough on it to go over the line with the keeper recovering. The second half was pretty one sided but the visitors managed the game well and did have chances of their own. Adam Haw came on for Chapman and proved a thorn in the FCHT defence but his powerful shot was blocked as it was heading goalwards. Nicky Walker and Mohammad Qasim also created opportunities but it just wasn't meant to be. A very good performance and we ran a full time team, one a good run themselves, from two leagues above very close. Leigh Whelan made his Lions debut and there was a first start for Chapman and Ekow Coker made his first Nethermoor appearance as well as a return from injury for Andy Kellett. Unlucky Guiseley! Onto Boxing Day against Atherton Collieries now. Come on Guiseley! AB

Played too deep first half imo and gave them too much space. Edged the second half and deserved an equaliser but couldn't force one. Badly missed Jake C up front who is out after someone stood on his foot as I understand it but we showed enough to move up the table in the new year.

Like Nik I thought this was an encouraging display Hard to believe we were Top Dogs in Yorkshire Non-League not so long ago. Halifax have clearly moved on and were just too good for us. Individually they were good on the ball, appeared calm in possession and some of the play between the lines was very very good. Their goal was clinical, a fantastic first touch and strong finish before any of our team had chance to move. However, the fact that we had the good chances in both halves and competed until the last minute was encouraging. Thought Coker was good at CB. Chapman offered something up top. However Whitman looks a class above and a player only moving up the ladder. Hope we can show similar endeavour on Boxing Day

But I’m still hopeful we can get back to NLN before too long if things fall in place.
