We're travelling to Thackley tomorrow night for a mid-season friendly. Following the postponement of recent fixtures Paul Phillips will be selecting a strong side to get players game time ahead of Saturday’s clash with league leaders Hyde United. The game will take place if the weather is as forecast and the pitch thaws out in time, we’ll provide any updates on our social media channels as always. Kick-off will be at 7:45pm with tickets priced at £6 adults, £3 concessions and u16s FREE. Full details: guiseleyafc.co.uk/lions-to-make-trip-to-thackley-for-mid-season-friendly/AB

Loving the lineup - Particularly triallists 12 & 18 And last time out at Thackley we had Big Kyle playing for us. Fair to say he did better than looked apparent that day en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Hudlin

Nice evening out at a friendly club, and a decent game of football. Bit of uncertainty with knocks for CMW and Kallan Murphy so fingers crossed they’re feeling good for Saturday.
Bold decision to go ten men and I enjoyed Ible up front. Good goals from Hey (great through ball and well handled finish) and Chapman (who doesn’t love in off the inside of the post?). Missed the first one chatting. 🤦🏻♂️
Wouldn’t mind it if we had a semi-regular visit over there to be honest, whether mid-season or pre-season.

I enjoyed the evening, too. Thackley are a good club run by decent people, and I hope Tom Greaves and Danny Forest can get something sorted there.
I think the game itself did us a lot of good in maintaining our momentum. We’re starting to feel like a club at ease with itself again, and that can only be good.

Decent work out for the squad last night with 19 players getting some game time. The pitch got very heavy in the second half and some of the Thackley tackling left a bit to be desired resulting in injuries to Kellett, Murphy and Meppen-Walter who all had to leave the field. Hopefully none are too bad but Murphy’s looked the most worrying. Hard to read too much into a friendly but a few on the pitch definitely not impressing management based on comments I was overhearing!

A good workout last night in a game played in tough conditions but one that would not have gone ahead without the hard work from Thackley's team of volunteers. As mentioned above Thackley are a great club run by good people and hopefully they go on to have some success with Danny Forrest now their joint manager. The first half was quite one sided but we could only score the one goal and that appeared to be an own goal coming off the head of a home defender. Jake Cassidy nearly doubled the lead with an excellent run beating everyone in sight, including the keeper, but his shot from a tight angle crashed off the foot of the post. Lewis Whitham had a couple of attempts too including a cracking free kick which was well saved by Wilson and Adam Haw looked certain to score when a loose ball fell to him in the box but a Thackley defender made an excellent block. The second half saw Thackley come into the game much more and we played much of it with ten men, good job Courtney Meppen-Walters spotted it before the kick off! We extended our lead through Angus Chapman's powerful shot which took a deflection to loop in over Callum Bradbury in the home goal and off the inside of the post. Again we had chances to give ourselves a larger lead but it was Lewis Hey who made sure of the win latching on the end of a great through ball before rounding Bradbury and finishing calmly, a well taken goal. Slight concern in that Meppen-Walters, Kallan Murphy and Andy Kellett all had to be withdrawn early but hopefully that was just as a precaution. Onto a return to Nethermoor against leaders Hyde United on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB
