Let’s hope at least one team from Leeds return with three points away to Manchester this week! COYL!!

That was disappointing. Two weeks running after a positive first half(regardless of the result at Marske)we have had a much less inspired second half. Is this an indicator that Mr.Phillips should do away with the team talk and just leave them to enjoy a refreshing cuppa.

Though we dominated the game but couldn't find the net and then fell for the sucker punch against a team that had only created one real chance in the previous 95 minutes. Should have had Adam Haw on imo instead of Alfie Moulden as it needed someone from the midfield to take on the shaky SCUM defence and create the opportunities.

A disappointing night in what I thought was an underwhelming match.
We were much the better side in the first half and FC United seemed to struggle to handle the pressing game. A few decent chances were created but we failed to convert and that was ultimately our downfall- not converting enough chances when we were clearly on top and not for the first time this season.
The red card did not prove to be the turning point I thought it might be and FC United nicking the win with effectively the last kick of the match (and I think their first real chance) was hard to take.
A really big five matches coming up now which will surely define whether we are still in play-off contention. I think wins at home to Stafford and Lancaster are imperative, plus a minimum of four points against play-off rivals Matlock, Warrington and Radcliffe- or any other combination of ten points would do….

Sounded frustrating last night. But put into context of all the games since Paul Phillips took charge the general trajectory is still upward, so as annoying as it is, one to take on the chin, learn from and move on. A win over Stafford on Saturday would be just the tonic. I’m not fretting about the play offs to be honest. I’d like to see us doing the groundwork now to have a real pop at promotion on the 3G next season. Going up this season, as fun as that might be, feels a little too soon.

In some ways our worst performance under Phillips in my view. Guiseley dominated possession in the first half with FCUM offering very little going forward but the openings created were wasted with Whitham the chief culprit. Second half was much more even after FCUM brought on two forwards at half time but again the openings Guiseley created were wasted with the FCUM keeper relatively untroubled. The sending off was correct as Halls was the last man but Guiseley failed to exploit the extra man and space and were hit with a sucker punch deep into injury time from a FCUM corner. Not a fair result on the balance of play - Guiseley deserved at least a draw from what was overall a poor game but I thought it was a sloppy and at times brainless performance - lots of huff and puff but nowhere near enough guile to carve out decent clear cut opportunities. A bad night all round as most of our rivals won so we are now six points off the play offs. Need a reaction on Saturday to get back on track.

A hard defeat to take at the end of a game we dominated but didn't finish off any of the chances we created. Similar to Marske on Saturday in that we dominated the first half and the hosts offered very little but the second half was perhaps a bit more even. Whitham had a couple of one on ones in the opening half with Lavercombe tipping the first wide and his second drifted just past the post. Boateng also had a good opportunity after blocking a shot to help launch a counter attack but his shot went straight at the keeper. Whitham had a shot which was blocked on its way through and Meppen-Walters hit a free kick well over the bar. FC United's only real attempt of the half came through the match winner Van Wyk when his shot trickled past the post. Whitham had two further chances from free kicks, the first shot was blocked by the wall, the second went straight through to Lavercombe. FCUM responded and made two changes at half-time, that appeared to have the desired affect. Van Wyk came close to breaking the deadlock with a shot which Mason got a hand to but it required Ible to sweep it off the line to prevent the ball from going in. The hosts went down to 10 men when Andy Halls caught Murphy who was through on goal, the ref had little choice but to send the former Lion off. From the free kick Whitham's shot went straight into the wall. Late in injury time Moulden stung Lavercombe's hand with Whitham picked up the loose ball but his curled shot dropped wide of the mark. Ible came closest though, his header looked to be going in but Lavercombe got a good hand to it to tip it over. Then came the sucker punch, a corner wasn't cleared and Van Wyk was there to head past Mason despite the keeper getting a good hand to the attempt. There wasn't much time for anything else and the Lions suffered another defeat at Broadhurst Park. There were many games last season where we didn't finish our chances off but in truth we were barely dominant in any of them, this was different but we just lacked the clinical touch. Unlucky Guiseley! Onto Stafford Rangers at home on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

I'm also intrigued as to why there was a minutes silence yesterday for an event that happened to the team they supposedly hate so much that it drove them to set up their own club?

I suppose they feel they have an affinity with the club as it was then

I thought their 2nd half subs changed the game. Disappointed with the outcome. Lewis is our shining star but needs to know when to pass and go and his free kicks were very wasteful last night.
Cam has been amazing since he came in but I think he’ll be disappointed with that goal. Looks like Ross possibly blocks his view. Good header but saveable imo. I wondered how it had gone in as we were at the far end.
Overall not too disheartened as we’ll play a lot worse and win. Just need the killer instant when on top in the games. No love lost between the two benches. Lots of snarling and animosity towards each other.
