If Lewis Whittam’s injury is as bad as this, I feel very sad for the boy. His ‘light’ shone brightly if only for too short a time and in many ways he is the best player we’ve had for a long while. His performances will stay in the memory, but I sincerely hope he can come back from this blow. Yes, I’d love to see him in a white/blue shirt again. But, wherever you are I wish you all the very best in the future, Lewis. Your contribution was one of the significant highs of this season at the Lions and one worth remembering! Good Luck!

Great interview Ivor. Having dreamt of a season where we wouldn’t entertain relegation, I have dreamt for the last month of something that mattered… To hear, PP say we have 40% of a team for next year makes me think…. Cam (GK) Ible, CMW (CB) Whelan +/- Chips (Midfield) Murphy, Bakker (CF) And that is it Bring on Pre-Season (Nik) I’m surprised he’s got rid of Daly (from interview) It would be nice for us win Vs Liversedge I'd add Cassidy, Boateng, Murphy and Kachosa on yesterdays display. Also believe Scott Bakkor is under contract next season.

He must on a decent contract and would free up funds for the overhaul PP wants As for Lewis W, don’t see him playing next season and hard to imagine he will be the same player if he ever does play again. Its a really bad injury and the rehab will be as important as the surgery

ACL, MCL and meniscus I think it said in the news. Either one of those first two could be anything up to a year out and never quite the same again.

(Ruud van Nistelrooy had to wait a year to come to England after a serious injury though and he still enjoyed a good career at a higher level afterwards! Lots of variables)

Firstly well done to the supporters who travelled to Atherton today the team do deserve our support. I have watched and listened to a large number of different football managers at many different levels over the years, but have never ever heard a managers post match excuse being that the reason for a poor performance was down to players not having a "football education " What the f does he think his and his coaches job is if it isn't educating players. Honestly the man is in my opinion a fraud and he covers it by in his words rollicking players. How about giving them calm consise instruction and encouragement for what they are doing right only a bully uses their position to blame others when things don't go right, and you certainly don't publicly belittle anyone who it is your responsibility to manage.

I hope I’m wrong but he’s given the impression of a poor man’s Paul Cox

Think we all need to take stock, write-off this season & build for the next. Give the gaffer a fair crack of the whip with his team he builds this summer and see how next season goes.
Can't be any excuses though as it will be his team & tactics. We can all wait and see.

I don't think we as supporters have done anything but give him a fair go I also think he has been fully backed by our directors to take the time he wants to build a squad of his own choice of players once relegation seemed to have been taken out of the equation , we just have to hope that the confidence is justified.

Interesting comments by mrsann and others. I had the misfortune to watch some of the Belper game from close to the dugouts/benches. Apart from the obscenities and the verbal abuse aimed at the ref and the linesman, I observed behaviour bordering on the imbecilic. It was embarrassing to see an adult behave in such a way. It went beyond being emotionally involved. I presume that any manager that emotionally involved still retains a rational, calculating side that can make decisions, observations and strategically change things on the pitch. I saw no evidence of that.
I do hope that there is another side to him but given that the subs on the bench cannot but see and hear all his carry on at close quarters, I hope that the players find something in him to respect. I didn't. I hope he proves me wrong, that he is a good manager. I am prepared to give him time, but I ain't going to be standing anywhere near those benches again !
