So do we want to beat Liversedge and probably send them down or do we hope that they win and possibly stay up to give us another local derby next season?

So do we want to beat Liversedge and probably send them down or do we hope that they win and possibly stay up to give us another local derby next season? I’d want a win bigj. We need to take some momentum into next season! Likely to lose at Lancaster. No reason to suspect Club aren’t still behind PP and so we need to finish with a couple of wins. Otherwise who wants to come play for a team that took 4 points in….

It’s gonna be a weird dynamic whatever the result, isn’t it?

Wonder if the Club Captain will come and watch. I’m guessing he can’t play….

By my reckoning, tomorrow's final home game is the first time in the last seven seasons (with a fully completed fixture list) where we are not in fear of, or facing relegation. Let's be grateful for small mercies.

It’s over 40 years since we last played a home league fixture against Liversedge. I’d hope we take the opportunity to win it as it could be a long time till the next one if they go down.
One of the worst performances of the season was that defeat at their place.

Guiseley got the win and CM-W deservedly (for all his efforts in defence) got the opportunity to score via a late penalty and took it very well. But, for Liversedge, losing all three points at such a late moment must have been a hammer blow. (We suffered last season of course!) A draw would have been fairer but that’s football and it was certainly a better ending for us, before the POTY award went to J Ible deservedly. Truthfully both sides had their chances but the two sets of opposing attackers looked fairly blunt and unable to take any of them. How many were lofted over the bar, I lost count! Liversedge could even argue they had the better chances. But, that’s football, which can be cruel and unforgiving, as we also found out last season.
One game to go, then things will start to move into first gear proper, at least, in terms of planning for 2023/24. It was great to see Ross Daley back today, after PP said he was finished at the club. ‘Kiss and Make-up’ or some other explanation? Who knows, but it was good to see him back in a number 4 shirt which I hope he will pull on next season for us again. The last game of the home season always has an element of sadness about it, certainly for me, as I try to think what I will do on Saturday afternoons for the next few months. But, I shall be looking forward to next season’s first competitive match at Nethermore and by the time it comes round, raring to go once again in the ‘snakes and ladders’ world that constitutes supporting a football club and caring about its fortunes! Happy holidays/summer to all who care about Guiseley AFC, supporters, staff, etc

Ending at Nethermoor with three points and a win in the bag. In a game with few chances, particularly in the second half, the visitors will perhaps feel a bit aggrieved to go home with nothing have blown several good opportunities to break the deadlock. There was a few early corners for both team but none of them particularly came to anything. Kallan Murphy, Scott Bakkor and Lewis Hey all had good chances to open the scoring but couldn't beat Porter in the away goal. To sum up the first half Meppen-Walters delivered the perfect pass to Kachosa which was then followed by a cross that went straight out of play. Nicky Walker looked bright for Liversedge and was key to their attacking play but even he couldn't get past Hagie Damba who was make his league debut for the club. The second half produced far less goal mouth action and before the late penalty it was looking like we could play all day and not score. Hey had another chance but again fired wide of the target. Liversedge continued to waste opportunities up the other end, particularly Walker who had a great opportunity but shot over the bar. Then with free minutes left an away defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box and the ref pointed to the spot. Meppen-Walters stepped up to send Porter the wrong way, even if he had guessed right he wouldn't have stopped the shot as it nestled in the bottom corner. It was the last action of the game and a first home win since the 4-0 demolition of Stafford for us. Onto Lancaster away for the final game of the campaign next week. Come on Guiseley! AB

However disappointing our season might have been, it’s been good to see the players interactions with the fans. This was typified by the sight of Courtney taking the time to celebrate with a couple of our youngest fans today just after he scored our winning goal. In that we are the equal of any club in the league.

Pretty poor game played out by two poor teams. But we end the homes games with a much needed win, even if it wasnt truely deserved.
Felt sorry for Liversedge losing & being relegated in that way, but probably would have happened anyway next week.
So one more game v Lancaster and we can end this season and start the build for next.

I’m glad that we won of course, and I’m glad that while Liversedge are teetering, thanks to Marske’s rubbish pitch meaning their game was postponed (goodness knows when they’ll find time to play that but they’ll have to), we didn’t quite relegate our former manager at Nethermoor.

Game of missed chances for both sides but at least we played better than at Atherton (mind you it didn't take much!) and we had a keeper who looked comfortable between the sticks unlike the past few weeks. Upwards and onwards to next season.
