At the start of the season, we wanted promotion
Come on you Lions reward our devotion
The Dannys are in, it's a brave new dawn,
It doesn't last long and we're all forlorn

Phillo is in, a brand new broom,
A very good run lifts the gloom
South Shields are beaten, the play offs are in sight
But we lose to Radcliffe on a very bad night

The season hits the buffers,
We're playing like duffers
But a win at Marine, a sign of recovery?
Think again, the season's gone to buggery

From a disappointing season, rises a star
Lewis Whitham's the man, he'll go far
He dribbles, crosses and shoots
Creates a lot and scores some beauts

Bloody hell, he's out for the season
Our form gets worse, is that the reason?
Through it all Jameel stands tall
Caps it all with an international call

We started the season wanting promotion
3 points from 7 tests our devotion
Defeat at Atherton, could the season get worse?
Only if some bugger writes it in verse

The season was poor, from this writer who mocks
The management and players should pull up their socks
Where was the leadership the skill and the flair?
But with so many changes it was tough to be fair
And lets trust Paul Phillips isn't the new Paul Cox!

GAFC: 2022/23

We didn’t go down
Should we just be relieved?
For sometimes we frowned
It was hard to ‘believe’.

The best game for me,
Was South Shields at home, 
On the wing running free, 
Lewis threatened and roamed.

The behaviour of some fans
At times was quite shaming
Those hooligan young ‘uns
Were NOT entertaining!

And, the manager PP
At times lost the place
His language, you see
An utter disgrace

But at least he’s admitting
He went just too far, 
At a family club, not fitting
Club ethos to mar.

But we must not just mope
With Ible, Daly and Whittam
Plus new signings we hope
Next year, heights, we can hit ‘em!

So, chins up and smile
From July we’ll be steady
With skill, strength and guile
Promotion-push ready??!!
