Right, I’ve had a rest and a ‘close season’, or whatever they call it these days.
I’ve tried watching the telly, mowing the lawn and twiddling my thumbs.
In short I’m really missing watching the Lions and I’m ready to go again.
When do we start?…

To my knowledge the date hasn't been confirmed yet but it is likely to be either 5th or 12th August that league games start and if that is the case pre-season friendlies will normally commence around early July.
So there's quite a few sleeps yet but that gives you plenty of time to finally watch 'One Foot in the Grave' and 'Only Fools and Horses'! AB

Funnily enough, I was planning to try and watch both of those tonight, but then I remembered I’m washing my hair…

Glad it’s not just me. As punishing as this season has been, July seems an awful long way away just now.

Getting my fix watching the conclusion of the West Yorks League over the next couple of weeks and then it's off to watch some National Conference Rugby League games until we start again.

I can’t be doing with rugby. It just seems like a lot of stoppages and men who seem to like rolling about on top of rather a bit too much. Anyway, there we go….

Bit like the Premier League? ………… Yeah, but the Premier League is a lot easier on the eye. Anyway, football is theatre or ‘a soap for the masses’, and everything like that needs a bit of over the top acting and a good few baddies and villains… ………

Yup. Officially bored of no football. Genuinely, what is the reasoning for the NPL finishing so much earlier than the other leagues?

This was discussed on the NPL group on Facebook and a few people mentioned that ending the season before April was over makes it easier/cheaper for clubs from a pay roll point of view.
This could be rubbish too though, it seems odd to start a week later than everyone else and then finish a week earlier missing two Saturday game days and packing in midweek fixtures in August when people are on holiday. AB

AB I wonder if this is to do with gaining gate receipt funds early in the season after a couple of months of little income (other than season ticket sales). Playing Sat & midweek at the start of season means effectively a club is getting home crowds each week. Just a thought. Rallyman

I'm gasping for the new season. I missed the last three home games because I went to watch England's U21s at the King Power stadium (missing one) and caught Covid so missed the next two.
When's Santa Russ filling our stockings with new signings (has he been, has he been).

I’m excited to see what Santa Russ brings us too. 😆 I had the new Aaron Martin on my list, hope that was specific enough.

We look to have a new signing coming soon according to Kayde on twitter, so some semi decent news to get us in the mindset for the 23/24 season. Still think we are going to need 6-7 signings at least if we are going to challenge for the play offs. No doubt in my mind we will be up there at the end of the season however. got a very good and experienced manager at this level, who doesn’t take anything less than 100% from all his players.
