The club were saddened to hear of the passing of former striker Neil Matthews yesterday at the age of 56 from cancer. Neil stayed in football after his retirement from playing and was academy manager at Bradford City. Very sad news regarding Neil. He made his debut for the club on Saturday 6th April 1996 in the 1-1 home draw against Blyth Spartans in the Northern Premier League. Making 10 appearances. He then made 40 + 2 sub appearances in 1996-7 season and was our leading goalscorer that season with 24 goals. He followed that up the following season by again being leading goalscorer with 25goals in 47 appearances.
