The first pre-season friendly has been confirmed and Curzon Ashton will visit Nethermoor on Saturday 15th July. Lots of us for various reasons could not wait for last season to end and now we are much more optimistic that this season will be a positive declaration of intent that we can look forward to some exciting games and a challenge for promotion.

I don’t get it. It was a Barnsley XI. They could’ve turned up with a team of kids and Trialists and as long as they were wearing a Red shirt it would have been fine. A professional football club can’t cobble together something to send to Nethermoor? I don’t buy it. They just can’t be bothered playing, and I think that’s a really crappy thing to do. Worse still we’ll lose money out of this now. Programmes are printed, I dare say drinks and food orders made. Not to mention how badly it reflects on us. I’m genuinely cross about this.
