It is with an extremely heavy heart that I post the news my Dad, best mate, idol and hero passed away in the early hours of the morning after a brave and resilient battle.
John Bridson was a volunteer for both the club and Supporters' Club and took great pride in his work, he loved being a part of the Guiseley AFC family and I know he will continue watching from up above.

Ditto boselecta a great guy and a sad loss. Thoughts are with Adam and his family and if we ever get the Railway Terrace built I think it would be a fitting tribute to name it in John's memory.

Adam, I am dreadfully sorry to hear about your family's sad loss. He was just such a nice guy and a backbone of our club. We won't find another like him.

Ditto boselecta a great guy and a sad loss. Thoughts are with Adam and his family and if we ever get the Railway Terrace built I think it would be a fitting tribute to name it in John's memory. In terms of naming a stand etc I would have thought the Clapham family would be first in line to have something named after them. Sue's sterling work for the club is a continuation of what her parents did before her. Her dad in particular was a super old guy. The sight of Adam manning the tunnel by himself will be a very poignant tribute to to his father. Maybe the supporters could donate a plaque in John's memory to go somewhere in that area?

Not looking forward to my first time coming in by the tunnel and him not being there.
There was a great turnout of past players who were keen to send video well wishes and encouragement when John fell ill; to have received such warmth now looks more like a fitting tribute to someone of whom you absolutely never heard a bad word spoken. Every player and staff member knew him and liked him.

Terrible news AB. JB was a wonderful person who like all scousers knew his football. Always ready to listen and talk. The tunnel and accompaniment of match officials will never be the same. Sending ❤️

Thank you so much for everyone's tributes across the forum and social media, they mean so much to us all as a family and we have been totally blown away by the love and support shown to us all.
Dad was such a special man who I can't quite believe is no longer here but I know he will be by my side all the time and watching all the Guiseley games home and away from above - he wouldn't like to miss one.

We will be celebrating Dad's life on Monday 17th July both at Nethermoor and Rawdon Crematorium. The cortege will pass Nethermoor at 11:30am with a short stop outside the ground, we would love as many people as possible to clap him past. We have then left plenty of time to get up to Rawdon Crematorium for the service at 12:15pm before heading back to Nethermoor to continue the celebration at 1pm. Full details and a tribute to Dad can be found here: guiseleyafc.co.uk/a-tribute-to-john-bridson/AB

The Lions wore black armbands as a mark of respect to my Dad in Tuesday night's behind closed doors game with Thackley, thank you to everyone at the club for this, it was a lovely touch.
A full tribute will be arranged at a game in the coming weeks.
