A good performance to end pre-season with a win on a tricky surface at Brighouse this afternoon. The first half was our best of the two and going in at the break we could have been three or four ahead with Brown and Conway hitting the woodwork and Ible going close. It was Ible who scored the only goal of the game when his header was saved by the home keeper but the defender buried the rebound home. Kendall also came close to scoring but couldn't find the target. The second half didn't have as much of a flow to it due to several changes from both sides but we nearly added to our tally. Tongue drove a shot just past the post. It was Whelan who was on hand to extend our lead nipping in before the home stopper to finish in the empty net. Valsau saw a shot, which looked destined to be heading into the top corner, blocked in the last action of note. Pre-season came to an end with our unbeaten record intact. Well played Guiseley! Onto Hyde away and the season proper next week. Come on Guiseley! AB

It never really got going yesterday, perhaps neither side wanted to pick up injuries in the last game, which I guess is understandable. Looks like the first team is more or less decided and I’d expect most of the names on the team sheet yesterday to line up against Hyde (maybe even Trialist A, who I’d say would be quite a catch for our level) Brighouse pitch was interestingly mowed and a reminder (should we need it) of how good we’ve got it at Nethermoor. Looking forward to next week now, pre season friendlies are all very well but I’m keen to see if this positivity can carry into the real stuff.

Another decent run out for Guiseley yesterday against a hardworking Brighouse side. Defence never looked in trouble and we created plenty of chances in front of Brighouses goal hitting the bar and post. Still cannot work out the goalkeeping situation will find out next Saturday. Onwards and upwards.

Another good workout and a win which can't do the confidence any harm. Unlucky not to have bagged another two or three more and I thought we looked quite sharp at times as we seem to have a game plan this season.
