I think it was the hovering Police helicopter wot won it. We weren’t as good in the second half when it wasn’t flying overhead every five minutes.

I’ll admit to being more than a bit worried that the win has delayed the inevitable. Maybe I’m wrong and it’s not inevitable - but I wasn’t there yesterday and we only beat one of the most out of form teams in the division, so I hope my lack of newfound enthusiasm is understandable! I'm a bit the same but everyone who went seems really positive.. so I guess the performance was good and this is a really positive thing. My complaint has not really been the results so much as we were getting what we deserved.. we've played badly. Other complaints such as the transfer merry go round and the managers approach to his players all just lead into that same thing. At the end of the day if those things bring good team performances then that's fine for me. I can't see how it does but maybe that's why I'm not paid to be a football manager. Maybe PP is self aware enough to take on board the criticism of the fans and adapt and if so, more power to him. I've just realised I'm missing the next two home fixtures which means I won't be at a game now until the end of October.. I guess things will all be sorted one way or the other by then.

Like most people on the forum I also hope that now we have players back from injury, how's Gaby anyone and hopefully Courtney ending his detention for bad behaviour, that we will see a settled line up producing good results. Unfortunately I won't be hear to see but will endeavour to listen to the games as the land down under beckons for a few weeks. To the team dig in boys to my fellow supporters keep on hoping. To the management team, they're grown ups with experience, use it and respect it.

We played quite well - much better than of late. The pressing was better, the passing crisper and we were the better team over the 90 minutes although Bamber Bridge were very average. Ekpolo was excellent, very ably supported by Whelan and Devine in a dominant midfield. The first half hour was notable for the lack of goal mouth action at both ends but the deadlock was broken by Murphy’s shot which took a huge deflection to wrong foot the Bamber Bridge keeper. Some overdue good fortune perhaps. The second goal just a couple of minutes later was well worked thanks to Murphy’s endeavour and well finished by Pratt. The second half was largely uneventful with Guiseley generally managing the game well to limit the Bamber Bridge threat.
A welcome win and deserved on the day but definitely no reason to get overexcited. We converted a couple of chances and kept a clean sheet which is the recipe for winning matches. Truth is we didn’t create many chances - perhaps not surprising with Chippendale playing as a striker and better teams than Bamber Bridge would have caused many more problems for our defence. We look short up front and I can’t see how Denton who was an unused substitute fits into the team at all. We need one or two pacey front men to give us a cutting edge. Then we might be competing with the better teams in the league. Phillips safe for now I suspect. As others have said results in the next three matches will probably demonstrate whether we are really improving or not.

A welcome win as all have said particularly our first away from home. Sounds like we played a lot better & restricted the opponents to limited chances. As people say next few games are important, but we have to wait until 23rd for the first which is frustrating after a good win. But 3 games in a week, two away from home against teams currently 9th, 10th & 11th so all above us at present. Ashton are poor away from home so important to get 3 points at Nethermoor, whereas Matlock & Morpeth are both unbeaten at home so they will be tough games to win, but we must look to take points in all 3 games for me to keep the forward momentum going. Obviously no-one wins anything this time of year, but we should be a top half table team as a minimum if not top 10.
