I’ve got a feeling we will win tomorrow. Some good passages in amongst the poor results give me hope. We also have some talented players. I hang onto Italia 90 where a single change/return from injury can fundamentally change things around.
Totally understand everyone’s well expressed frustration. We all want Guiseley to do well. Fingers crossed that tomorrow we turn that corner.

First away win of the season and first league clean sheet, a decent afternoon's work! In a game played in difficult conditions we took our chances well to take three points back to West Yorkshire. We had had a couple of openings before the first half goals but it was a fairly even affair. Chippendale forced a stop from Pradic and Sinclair saw a flicked shot come off the top of the bar. The deadlock was broken after 34 minutes when a cross into the box was cleared to the penalty spot and Murphy mopped up the danger with a volley which took a deflection to wrong foot Pradic. A minute later it was 2-0! Brown started the move and Pratt was there to finish well for his first goal for the club shooting low past Pradic. The second half started well for us, Ible was unlucky not to make it three when his powerful shot came off Pradic's face and Chippendale's shot on the rebound was cleared off the line. The second half never really got going but we did well at the back to stop any danger from an home side chasing the game. Battersby had one save to make at his near post. They should really have scored in the last minute when a ball flashed across our goal but we kept our clean sheet. Well played Guiseley! Onto Ashton at home in two weeks time. Come on Guiseley! AB

Lge. Bamber Bridge 0 v GUISELEY 2 Sat. 09/09/23
Wasn’t able to follow the commentary today so only know the basics, with Murphy and Pratt both scoring, but the result itself provides the perfect response to what had seemed like unrelenting misfortunes and gathering gloom. It takes the Lions up to 14th in the table, one behind Bamber Bridge, and five points behind the fourth promotion play-off spot. From looking at the league placings, things seem to be settling down into a pattern for some teams at both ends of the rankings. Today, the top six teams all won, whilst the bottom seven all lost. However, the most obvious feature is Radcliffe’s stunning form as they continue to rampage (at present) leaving the rest in their wake, sitting atop the pile on 21 points. Already, they look very hard to stop, making it look like a promotion play-off spot is the best the rest of the chasing pack will be able to hope for. But, of course, the summer sun is still shining, there’s a long, long road ahead. Don’t know how good the Lions were today, or the home side, but three points away, is a welcome development for now, whatever.

Great that we won today, I’m sure it will raise the morale amongst the players. Like mrsann I will reserve judgement until I have seen a few more positive results. I think we play better when we are not lobbing the ball forward to Denton.

Good performance, one I’d hoped for given the players that have returned. Thought Murphy was excellent. Brown was a force. But there were performances from every player. A good start but as we get back to strength we have to build on this. Next couple of games are crucial in establishing direction for the season. For me expectations are that we need wins against Ashton, Morpeth. Worksop will be the litmus test as to where we are. 9 points from these games and we will be looking like contenders. 4 or less will look much less favourable.

Great to get our second win but like others I'll reserve judgement for now.

Great to get a win and a clean sheet in the bank. We now need to win the next 4 or 5 to get back in contention.

Terrific Win For me, Bamber was where things went wrong for PP. Travelled in expectation for the New Year game when on a roll only to leave dismayed and never understood the decision re Kwarme (subbed b4 H-T as “not following instructions”) Anyways, there a good team and an away win with a clean sheet is no mean result. PP interviewed very well with Ivor after the game. I particularly liked the fact that he made special mention of those that travelled. He also mentioned that CMW is missing for “disciplinary reasons” - does anyone know what this relates to? I remember that Danny E was relieved of duties after an impressive win but dont expect this to be the case this time. My hope is we go on a long run of wins and finally show what this team/squad is capable of. My worry is that this win simply delays the inevitable. Time will tell. Like others, I will wait to see…..

I’ll admit to being more than a bit worried that the win has delayed the inevitable. Maybe I’m wrong and it’s not inevitable - but I wasn’t there yesterday and we only beat one of the most out of form teams in the division, so I hope my lack of newfound enthusiasm is understandable!

The opening half an hour was quite balanced but was ultimately a bit of a stalemate with a lack of clear cut chances. Thought we benefited from a decent portion of good fortune (for once) with Kallan’s shot taking a large deflection for the opening goal and Bamber Bridge hitting the bar shortly before- that drops in and perhaps it’s a different game.
Some well worked play followed with Pratt converting cooly for the second. Thought he was great and will be a real miss for next three matches.
Our game management was solid in the second half and it appeared we had learnt some lessons from Lancaster, although it could definitely be argued that was helped by the opposition not being as strong this time.
As others have said, let’s not get carried away. I think it is usually fair to wait until 10 league matches to assess where we are- we can somehow find 7 points from the next three matches, then suddenly we are sitting on 16 points after 10 games and in a good position to kick on. Slightly frustrating that we now have to wait a fortnight for the next match, let’s hope any opportunity to continue some momentum isn’t lost.
I suppose we shall see but at least some glimmers of light….
