Thought we played well overall last night, but for about fifteen minutes last night we were absolutely brilliant. Just blew Ilkeston away. We channelled Argentina 2006 for the third, and passed our opponents off the pitch. The second half we looked a bit shakier, but we still managed to hold them at arms length, and nabbed a fourth at the end (when it all got a bit fighty- not quite sure why?)
Ilkeston ran out of pies before kick off (See? It’s not just us!) but otherwise a thoroughly satisfying evening!

(I’m glad it’s not just us)
Absolutely brilliant result, I would’ve been totally happy with a draw at a difficult game after Saturday, but a statement comeback like that is fantastic. Especially when it’s sandwiched between that game and the Radcliffe one ahead.
Well done to Andy, and all the players, this season really threatens to be tense doesn’t it?

Agree with above, great night to see the lads come back from a unfortunate OG to then run Ilkeston ragged in the rest of the first half scoring three excellent goals & creating more chances. Second half was not so exciting as the two teams cancelled each other out really. Ilkeston had a couple of chances & then we scored at the end to make it 4-1.
Think the "handbags" at the end was more Ilkeston's frustration boiling over & our lads reacting to that. One yellow card a piece & the ref blew for FT straight after the restart.
PS - I went for cup of tea about 5 mins before kick-off (after my pie & peas) and there were still a few pies left then. This was at the counter at the clock though not the club house.

To summarise recent games - 2 Tuesday night comeback games with 4 goals! After 2 disappointing Saturday away games.
I am happy with how things are progressing. No-one wants their team to lose but it's great when you see us win games with lots of goals. Bring on Radcliffe !!😄

Excellent away win last night and a great response to a relatively poor showing (albeit against strong opposition) on Saturday. We are top of the form table over the last 10 matches with 22 points - seven wins one draw and two defeats. Shame we only mustered 10 points from the first nine matches but we seem to have good momentum and confidence running through the team which is very promising. Cant see Saturday’s visit of Radcliffe being on given the frozen conditions for the rest of the week.

The perfect reaction with four goals and four different scorers as well as reacting to going behind to an own goal. Denton had a very early chance but coulddn't keep his header down before Johnson's shot at the end of Nsaka's perfect cross looked set to burst the net but Perch flew in with an excellent block. Then Denton got on the end of Kendall's delivery but headed straight into the grasp of Yates. Whelan had picked up a knock earlier on in the game and was forced to come off but then disaster. An Ilkeston cross evaded Battersby and Kendall lept highest but nod past his own goalkeeper to break the deadlock. The next real moment of action came after 30 minutes when Kendall made amends with a pinpoint cross that found Walker unmarked at the back post and the defender powered his header past Yates via the bar to equalise. It sparked a crazy spell in the game with substitute Tongue completing the comeback, Moore burst away from his marker having the whole right hand side of the pitch to himself before looking up and picking out the captain who drilled a shot past Yates. A minute after the second Moore showed brilliant balance in the box to weave his way past a couple of home defenders but once again Perch got in the way just as his shot was about to test Yates. Then the crazy ten minute spell concluded with a brilliant team goal by the Lions with pretty much every player touching the ball before Denton finished off a 19 pass move to double our lead. Tongue had the first chance of the second half but his ambitious attempt from 30 yards out rolled well wide of the mark. It proved to be one of very few opportunities in a second 45 where we managed the game extremely well and didn't let Ilkeston have a sniff really other than Marshall fluffing his lines from a few yards out and Erratt Thompson firing well over. With a minute left Johnson nearly added a fourth but his shot flew just wide of the mark. The fourth did come though when substitute Pratt jumped highest to fire a header into the top corner leaving Yates with no chance. The game came to an end, after a scuffle, and another valueable three points were in the bag. Well played Guiseley! Onto Radcliffe at home on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB
