With the restrictions currently imposed think the board have made a sensible decision. With current interest rates any loan required to finance the construction would be relatively high and could put the club in a precarious position rather than its aim of making it more sustainable. Completely agree Colin aand it also gives us breathing space to get this debacle sorted with the relevant authorities or find another solution.

Surely now is the time to get the h**l out of Leeds Council's jurisdiction to a more accommodating Local Authority. Leeds will, and has, held us back at every opportunity! Erm, how?

I thought that would be obvious! We need to find a site in Esholt or Shipley to develop over the next couple of seasons ready for a permanent move.
I think Bradford Council would be more supportive than Leeds Council are ever likely to be.

Bradford Council £60M in debt and just been baled out by the Government to the tune of £220M so the grass isn't always greener. Maybe we ought to partner with Guiseley School to develop a joint facility?

The Club looked into a partnership deal with St. Mary's sometime around our Wembley years but it collapsed because the Education Authority would not agree unless the school had priority usage and therefore would have had control of our fixtures. We need our own independently owned facility.
I don't see why Bradford's financial situation is relevant if we don't want any financial input.

I’m not sure moving councils will make any difference. And given that council budgets are based on houses then (forgetting Ilkley, Skipton and in between) then Leeds is a lot better off. And maybe I’m being silly but there is a reason why the club is called Guiseley, moving beyond the area would definitely impact on the club and its support and lets face it will not create huge numbers of new fans. The Board will have taken a view. An appeal will be expensive with no guarantees. Think we just need to accept and move on. Hoping to see some developments around the ground instead….

Sadly I doubt there will be much in the way of developments around the ground now. Without the income the 3G pitch would have brought there will be nothing in the kitty for anything other than essential repair and maintenance now.

I understand The basis being we borrow to buy on basis of income to be received Basic covering at each end would be a lot less than a new pitch and admittedly may not be recovered but would make the ground more attractive to all However… www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/steve-parkin-ppe-tory-donor-clipper-b2262410.htmlOur owner is not short. Not forgetting the above, he was given a £130M contract to deliver PPE! And if you look further back, there is a talk of selling Clipper for £1B (due to in part contracts gained during COVID19). I suppose what I’m saying is that in the grand scheme of things, GAFC is pocket money for SP’s grandchildren…. (Admittedly it’s not my money)

SP sold Clipper to an American logistics giant GXO Logisticsa a couple of years ago and now concentrates on his Branton Court Stud farm near Knaresborough.

Dont see how moving from one entrenched Labour money wasting council to another will help. Said this numerous times. It's frustrating but the club is stuck in terms of progression and has been for a long time. Any attempts made by the board (whether years ago or recent) have been scuppered by the Council and neighbours. Not for the want of trying.

For many years Leeds City Council have been determined to stall any plans we have
