Very very unlucky not to get something out of that. Macc rode their luck with numerous blocks on the line.
Can take encouragement despite the result for the run in.

We deserved to win today. I thought we were by far the better team. We had numerous attempts cleared off the line/last ditch clearances/hit the bar etc. Really disappointing result but the performance was excellent - especially given we were dreadful in the corresponding fixture earlier this season.
It will be a similarly difficult challenge next week but if we play like we did today we have a good chance of getting a result.

No idea how we lost that game. Could/should have had three penalties and I need a physicist to explain how the ball could defy gravity and avoid the net on those two occasions we hit the woodwork.

Always frustrating when it's a game we should have won given better refereeing,I'm usually of the mind that decisions have a way of levelling themselves during a game but didn't happen on this occasion. Prior to the game I'd said that I expected it to be tough but would like a decent committed performance and in that I wasn't disappointed, every player more than did their job today and entertained us royally.
Pleased about the size of the crowd, and just who did get MOM today, difficult to give it to everyone.

A very disappointing result but a hugely encouraging performance. Still not quite sure how we didn’t win let alone lose. I think we need to remember Macc have probably the best budget in the league but we outplayed them for 90 mins, admittedly they scored twice and had one cleared off the line. I think we are now seeing an Andy W side. Kall was Kollossian, Prince was Powerful, Reece was Regal, Liam was Legendary etc etc We just couldn’t take our many opportunities, a mix of poor finishing and fantastic defending. It was clear we missed Gabs. A word for the Referee who was either inept or under the influence of Robbie Savage. Either way, I think we should have have had a penalty in both halves - the first a foul on our RW, the second a hand-ball. I suspect if we’d been playing Atherton, we’d have had 2 penalties. And finally, I stand behind the goal and am more than happy to engage in “banter” with the visiting keeper but what today’s keeper received from his own team (Rooney, No 6) was simply hideous. Here’s a young keeper making his way, yes he’s dropped a couple of crosses but to receive such abuse from your own Senior Professionals can not help surely. Felt sorry for the lanky Tw^t (Twit)

A great game but how did we end it with nothing! Both teams played their part in a high quality showing at Nethermoor with Macclesfield solid in defence and devastating on the counter and the Lions dictating play causing several moments of panic in the Silkmen backline. The visitors took the lead after a mix up at the back and Curran couldn't miss, a bad start from oursevles but we reacted well and really should have been well level at half-time. Macclesfield packed the box and threw their bodies at every shot ensuring they got in the way, Ible, Whelan and Mariette all had chances to equalise. Ible headed over from a corner and he saw a shot blocked on the line with the ball edging out for a corner. Whelan saw two efforts blocked twice by the same visiting defender before Mariette's low drive clipped a defender and the cross bar before going out for a corner. Afuye had a couple of shouts for a penalty which looked fairly convincing at the time and they will be interesting to see back on the match footage. It wasn't all us though, Ollie Brown made a couple of fantastic clearances from underneath his own cross bar to keep us in it in the first half. At the break it just didn't make sense that we were behind but Mariette fired us level with a stunning goal from distance out of reach of the tall visiting shot stopper. A real moment of quality from the on loan Blackpool man. We dominated the half with the visitors kept to half chances at best. We had another shout for a penalty for a handball towards the end, but it wasn't to be. Then with eight minutes left Drummond took his chance firing past Battersby to ensure the points were going back to Cheshire with the Silkmen. A great performance that the team can be proud of and a really enjoyable high quality game of football. Well played Guiseley! Onto a trip to Radcliffe on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Can someone inform me as to what will be done about the flare thrown onto the pitch, presumably by a Macclesfield supporter as it came from the area by the goal where they were standing in celebration of the second goal. Will the very inept referee, the FA assessor or our chairman be writing to the league to make them aware of the incident or is it ignored and put down to our softly softly approach to security at games which could be volatile.

Felt a bit deflated leaving Nethermoor this afternoon, as our performance certainly didn’t warrant defeat and there was a real sense of injustice about the end result.
After conceding an early goal which did look like a bit of a gift, I was really encouraged by how well we responded- taking the game right to Macclesfield and putting them under consistent pressure.
Fair to say we didn’t get the run of the green today. There was a stonewall penalty missed in the first half, another one for potential handball in the second (which I didn’t see), and countless clearances and fortunate deflections from Macclesfield, who did defend fairly resolutely.
I thought the whole team were excellent today, but Kallan Murphy’s work rate was , as always, simply astounding and Prince had one of his inspired performances.
A tough result to take, but if we can perform like that in the coming weeks, we should come away with a decent return from a tricky looking run of fixtures.

Very good performance from Guiseley yesterday. Thought we outplayed Macclesfield in every department. It was one of those days where the ball wouldn’t go in the net. We created more chances on goal than I have seen for a while. I lost count how many times Macclesfield blocked shots. Not the result we wanted but well done to all. Good turnout at Guiseley didn’t witness any trouble just the blue flare. What was the attendance? Onwards and upwards.

The Macclesfield fan was immediately apprehended by security staff, his details were taken and passed onto the police and Macc to deal with. GAFC have a zero tolerance to the use of flares at Nethermoor. Ref was informed that it was a Macclesfield fan and will make this comment in his report, along with our swift action. AB

Thanks for that Adam, it's incidents like this that brings fans and the game into disrepute and was obviously pre planned would be interesting to find out if there have been previous occasions when this has occurred. In my opinion it's not minor and warrants more than a telling off.
