Good performance on the whole and with better finishing should have sealed it comfortably in 90 minutes.
Gabs playing too deep?
Discipline needs to improve or could cost us dear with suspensions.
Nice to win a penalty shootout out. It’s been a while.
Credit to Ossett who kept battling away when under the cosh.

Did Ok in first half but poor in second. Should have won game in first half but for better finishing & decision making in front of goal. Best Guiseley spell of football for me was after Ossett's equaliser. Had a few good chances but just couldn't score. Plus point for me is seeing so many Guiseley players scoring pens.
On to Ashton on Sat although with forecast for snow/rain, will it be on. If not, next it'll be (hopefully) third time lucky for the Whitby away trip next Tuesday.

Did anyone hear what the attendance was last night? Did they announce it? I guessed at 211, and a couple of friends went a bit higher, so it would be nice to have the mystery revealed.

All about progression last night and we got through in the end following a high quality shootout with some good penalties from both sides. The first half was very much one way traffic with Afuye having a handful of chances to himself and it was his goal which separated the sides at the interval. The Rochdale winger picked up possession on the right hand side and fired a low shot across the goal and into the bottom corner. This came after Denton had the ball in the net after just five minutes but the goal was ruled out for a handball earlier in the move. Afuye had forced former Lion Hiddleston into a string of saves but Ossett nearly equalised with an audacious lob from 40 yards out but it sailed wide. The second half started in similar fashion to the first with Moore teed up nicely by Johnson but again Hiddleston was in the way. Ible was next to test the stopper who did well to keep out his header. Peterson nearly equalised too in the early stages with a goal similar to Afuye's but it whistled wide. Then the game got disrupted by a number of changes from both sides before Whelan saw red for a second yellow. With two minutes left academy graduate Ferreira converted from two yards out to send the tie to penalties. Not without us pushing for a late winner though, Ible hit the post, Chippendale saw an effort cleared off the line before we went to the shootout. Chippendale, Kendall, Murphy, Mariette, Ible, Walker and Ashman all scored with Tongue seeing his effort saved. Ferreira and Castro didn't find the net for the visitors as we moved into the semi-finals of the WRCC. Onto a trip to Ashton on Saturday now. Come on Guiseley! AB

We didn’t take advantage of our positions or superiority but there was a chasm between the two teams in terms of skill/quality etc. Unfortunately, Dents and Tongue did nothing to suggest they deserve a return to the starting 11. Dents new role is surely as last 10min CB sub. Liam needs to get fit again. His injury and time as manager hasn’t helped him. Lovely goal with 2 great passes from Liam and Gabs. S-F here we come - when do we hear who and when?!? There will be more important games but winning the WRCC which (looking at the teams still involved) we should be favourites, sets the tone for “winning mentality” and to that end I liked Andy W’s team selection last night. Ashton looks unlikely. Need a result at Whitby and we’re really in the mix!

Think Halifax tend to play their academy team in the WRCC.
