Inspecting the pitch at 11am is fine as long as it takes into account that it’s forecast to rain from 4pm onwards in Whitby!

Inspecting the pitch at 11am is fine as long as it takes into account that it’s forecast to rain from 4pm onwards in Whitby! Surely they will? Suspect they’ll play it safe and call it off early, given the rain. But it’s surprising how many games they have been allowed to call off with no penalty. We’ve all had to cope with bad weather, just some of us seem to cope better than others. They’re well behind everyone else in terms of games played and you’d suspect ours won’t be the last game postponed there. That will impact quite a few teams seasons, and knock planning off kilter for quite a few more. Perhaps the minimum ground requirements for the NPL need a rethink?

Be good to play them on April fools day when we should have been playing Marske.

Be good to play them on April fools day when we should have been playing Marske. Agreed but Whitby are already due to play Morpeth that day. Suspect it’ll have to be rearranged for yet another Tuesday. Sigh. We’ll get that seaside weekend one of these seasons…

Not unexpected, but pity as this was the third attempt to play I believe. Looking at fixtures, assuming next Tuesday is too early & we'd probably want more time to make sure their pitch dries out & the forecast for the next few days, the earliest it could be is Tuesday 12th March. Personally I'd hope for an April date after clocks go forward as could be a good day out in Whitby, F&C for tea & the game in the evening, (with 3 points to finish everything off nicely Rallyman

Well at least we got the news early so no dramatics like last time.
However, the FA seriously need to look at these situations in more detail. Carlisle and Grimsby fans have travelled to Burton and Colchester respectfully only to have their games called off within the last hour or so. That’s just tonight. There have been so many this season I’ve lost count.
