Thoroughly disappointing, we spurned numerous guilt-edged chances in the first half which should have put us in control and that was probably where the match was ultimately lost- how many points have missed penalties now cost us this season?
Pressure now well and truly on us and might well take five wins from our remaining six matches to reach the play-offs, and given how remarkably inconsistent we have been this season, that seems like an almost impossible ask to me.

Disappointing today.
Despite not being anywhere near our best we had some golden chances to win the game but our two biggest misses were punished at the other end within minutes.
Shame not least because with a crowd of 900 it was a chance to showcase the club.
Important we win next Saturday to keep or playoff hopes alive going into the Rylands and Worksop games.
Very frustrating today. Were we leggy from Tuesday maybe?
I think the lack of depth in the squad may ultimately cost us but hopefully I’m wrong.
Come on you Lions!

This was a game we needed to win. Our position now is very shaky. Minor miracle required.

Did more than enough to win but were still not very good. With Ashton coming back into the mix we’re suddenly a lot further away than we were

A frustrating loss today, we created plenty of chances in the first half but couldn’t put the ball in the net until Jameel’s equaliser. The second half was a different story as we struggled to create an opening other than Tongue’s shot being palmed wide and Murphy cross striking the post. At the end of the first half we should have been out of sight. Ekpolo, Tongue and Johnson all blowing opportunities. Johnson’s penalty crashed off the bar and moments later Ilkeston took the lead through Cursons who struck the ball past Battersby. Then six minutes later we leveled the scores through Ible’s low shot, it was a good finish from the defender. The second half felt flat and Tongue stung the hands of Yates with a low drive. Murphy’s cross struck the post after a heavy deflection when it looked to be heading goalwards but a Yates scooped up theclooose ball. Ilkeston took the lead again through Cursons against the run of play. After the we struggled to really create anything meaningful and the game petered out. We move on to Wednesday’s WRCC clash with Knaresborough. Come on Guiseley! AB

Thoroughly disappointing, we spurned numerous guilt-edged chances in the first half which should have put us in control and that was probably where the match was ultimately lost- how many points have missed penalties now cost us this season? Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we've now converted 4 from 8 penalties, and missed out on a least half a dozen points if they'd gone in.
In defence of Johnson, the wind kept blowing the ball off the penalty spot, so he ended up rushing the kick, off a short run up. (I assume that a supporting player isn't allowed to keep the ball on the spot on such occasions, like in rugby.) Unfortunately it did seem to knock his confidence for the rest of the game. There again, we had a hat-full of other close calls that go in when the luck is going your way. Unfortunately it didn't today.

Like many I was very disappointed with today's result, the game should have been sewn up in the first half. The supposed game plan for the second half was hard to figure. I feel that we've recently lost the spark and team unity that was producing some really good attractive football and therefore results. I am aware of how physically and mentally draining this stage of the season is but hope that regardless of that the team can get back to actually enjoying playing the game and hopefully regain that zest for winning.

A disappointing result. Another penalty miss. But as CDP/Nik pointed out in the Whitby thread, our form is good, nearly 2 points per game over a long period and so win the next 3 home games and this will be forgotten. 70 points will do it (which is 4 wins from 6 OR 3 wins, 3 draws) Amazing results at Radcliffe and Matlock today prove how messed up this league is
