A sour end to the game at Matlock today as the hosts take the win at the death. A game which had an end of season feel to it saw Matlock shade the first 45 in terms of chances and the scoreline. Hardly poked in a cross to deceive Battersby in the only goal of the opening half. Tongue saw several shots blocked and Chippendale forced Deeney into a good stop at his near post. Deeney then did well to stop his side scoring an own goal when Chippendale's free kick was headed goalwards by a defender. The second 45 saw Murphy test Deeney on the swivel and Tongue saw another attempt blocked. Then 10 minutes into the half Murphy won us a penalty with excellent effort to keep the ball in play before charging into the box where he was hauled to the floor by two defenders. Kendall powered the ball past Deeney from the spot. Little of note followed for Guiseley despite the promising equaliser. Johnston crossed for Hardy who couldn't miss from two yards out at the death. We move on to FC United of Manchester on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Another game where we should have had all points but only played in patches. To many long range shots leading to nothing. We looked decent when we strung a couple of passes together. Like Adam said end of season game that meant nothing to both sides. Onwards and upwards.

There was definitely an end of season feeling to the match, thought a few of our players didn’t seem fully invested if I am honest. That was a shame as Matlock had lost five on the bounce and didn’t look great at all, so it was a very winnable match.
Yet again, our defending seemed to leave a lot to be desired for both Matlock goals, and whilst there were some periods of decent build-up play from us they were few and far between unfortunately. A couple of positives- first time I’d seen Partington, who looks a decent prospect to me, and also nice to see Chippendale back who did look up for it against his old club and played well enough.
It was very much a missed opportunity to give our very faint play-off hopes a boost, with Ashton, Hyde and Worksop all losing. Very disappointing to see all of the optimism from just a few weeks ago evaporated so rapidly, but hopefully we can salvage something positive from the remaining three matches of the season.

Not for the first time, everything was falling our way in the other games yesterday and we didn’t do our bit. We shouldn’t have been in the chase still, but we would’ve been if we had won, so of course we lost.
I guess those two players had something personal at stake yesterday, one trying to impress his parent club and the other trying in a short period to find a club for next season.
As for the rest, it just seems like something has gone completely wrong in the camp like it did at the crucial stage last season. I don’t know what or why, it’s just gutting.

Two poor teams showing only moderate interest in the occasion and producing a poor game devoid of any quality that I can recall. We lost to a team that had one win in the previous 11 matches. Woeful defending for both goals and only a penalty to show for the efforts up front which yielded few decent chances. Obviously no players playing to impress the manager for next season as we don’t have a manager! With only a couple of exceptions I think we need a complete clear out of the squad over the summer. Based on the last four league performances I don’t expect us to win again this season.

Who would you keep? Prince? Walker? Irish lads?

Ible and Ekpolo - but they will be wanted by other clubs so may be difficult. Brown, Walker, Whelan and Murphy but only as squad players - the past few weeks has demonstrated that we are way off a promotion standard squad so stands to reason that most of it has to change. Also, we need a new manager quickly - so he can assemble the squad before all the better players have been snapped up by our rivals.

Very frustrating that even 7 points from the last 4 games, 3 of them very winnable and we would have been in 5th spot with 3 to play.
We can only guess at what has caused the downturn in performances. We may never know.
The news about the pitch only adds to the feeling of doom and gloom around the club.
Like many I expect the majority of the current squad to move on and a new manager again building a squad almost from scratch.
A bit like our last 4 games it all seems a bit pointless at the moment.
Hopefully the board can inject some optimism prior to next season.

Winnable game yesterday but we only looked half interested although Callum Chippendale showed why he should have been playing regularly with some nice touches, corners and free kicks. And I wish our younger support would learn that foul language isn't funny and doesn't makes you look grown up, on the contrary they just come across as morons.
