The game looked like a hot night at the end of a long week, slightly disappointing to see that good triallist from other games come off early but otherwise nothing much to report.

All for getting playing time but seeing as we have signed some goalscorers would a goal or three be too much to ask?

It was 0-0, then?

1-0, they scored a nice goal but there wasn’t a lot of goalmouth action otherwise

I don’t think you ought to go anywhere near panic just yet. Pre season results never really tell you all that much about how the season will go, and between pre booked holidays, weddings and injuries we were short of quite a few arguably first choice players last night. We ended the game with a back four made up of three full backs. It was pretty experimental. Their goal was probably the only clear chance they had, and overall I got the feeling no one’s heart was in this one really. As nice as Liversedges ground is (on a warm night in July anyway), Friday night is a less than ideal time for football to be honest. I think I’m less annoyed we didn’t win, and more irritated I now have a free Saturday afternoon.

Not the best of games last night at the end of a busy week of fixtures and the sweltering temperatures won't have helped either side. Liversedge struck the only goal of the game with a well taken effort just before the interval. Earlier in the half Ackroyd had hit the side netting. Thewlis also forced the home stopper into a good save and had the ball in the net but his goal was ruled out for offside. The second half never really got going as a contest to be honest. Lawlor did head over and we did apply some late pressure. Liversedge didn't create too much and former Lion Jack Dyche could only shoot wide from outside the box. We move on to Leeds United U21s at home next week. Come on Guiseley! AB
