So who was the sub Evans who came on late - was he a trialist ?? Think you might mean Jack Emmott, who was indeed a trialist in pre season, but was announced as a signing earlier today! Former Harrogate Town midfielder with bags of experience.

The perfect start to the season today, clean sheet, three points and top of the table. It felt like we turned the screw in the second half and could really have had more goals than the two we scored. After just seven minutes we looked to have made a dream start when Longbottom poked home from close range but the assistant referee ruled the goal out for offside. A dangerous cross from Lufudu flashed across the face of goal and just before half time Thewlis won his side a free kick in a dangerous position. Longbottom stepped up to take it and fired it into the top corner leaving the visiting Mitchell stranded, a stunning strike to kickstart the 24/25 campaign. Workington had come close before the opening goal but Cracknell had a quiet afternoon in the sunshine. The second half started with Ible coming so close from a corner to doubling the lead. Thewlis tested Mitchell but the stopper was equal to his effort. Moke was introduced and a minute later the Lions had breathing space, Thewlis picked out the advancing Lufudu who powered past Mitchell to score. After the lead had been extended Workington were pushing for a goal but despite coming close they went home empty handed. Well played Guiseley! Onto Stockton away on Wednesday night for a new ground and opponent! Come on Guiseley! AB

Very good performance from Guiseley yesterday. Thought we competed in every area of the pitch very well. Two very well taken goals congratulations to all involved. Onwards and upwards.

Ok I’m officially excited. Think Stockton away will be tough and Macclesfield away will come too soon with this new squad to make a fair judgement against them but the players are very good and I liked that I could already see the discipline of a clear shape throughout yesterday.

I thought Jordan Thewlis did really well yesterday. Win the free kick for the first and a beautifully weighted through ball for the second. A constant threat and worked hard throughout.

Got to agree we were good especially in 2nd season. Unlucky with offside goal, (would it have counted if Longbottom didn't get last touch as it could have been going in from header). Workington were probably better team for next 20 mins. But great free kick for opener.
Second half thought we controlled the game, crwated a few good chances & scored a critical second to ease the pressure of 1 goal lead.
Onto Stockton who had a good 2-0 win away at Leek so will be a difficult game but hopefully we'll have a fair few supporters to cheer on the lads.

So so first half but deserved to win on our second half performance plus the free kick was brilliant.
Promising but room for improvement as the squad gels.
4 points from the next 2 away games would be a very good start.
Macclesfield feels like one of those games we’ve all got to just get through.
Not looking forward to the “big club” experience but a win would be sweet.
