One of half a dozen level 9 teams in our section of the draw, and at home so about as good as we could have hoped for. That said their record this season in all competitions is played 7 won 6 lost 1 so they will need to be taken seriously.
Looking at the draw more widely, ten teams from our league (including a couple who need to win a replay first) have drawn National League North opposition and there are two all Northern Premier League ties Bamber Bridge (if they win their replay) v Rylands and Worksop v Basford. So fourteen teams (subject to replays) out of a possible 18 have a tougher looking draw than us. That leaves - Guiseley v 1874 Northwich, Blyth (subject to replay) v Bury, Gainsborough v Grantham and Mickleover v Anstey Nomads as the ‘easier’ draws on paper.

Ashton had made an equally good start, too. Here’s hoping we can find the same motivation again when we play Northwich.

1874 Northwich won again last night in their league which means that two teams who have won their last five matches will meet at Nethermoor on Saturday. 1874 Northwich have won 9 out of 10 matches in all competitions this season, their only defeat beating to Wakefield in the FA Vase. It’s level 7 at home to level 9 so Guiseley will start favourites but I doubt it will be straightforward.

That's about as big a banana skin as you can get...

That's about as big a banana skin as you can get... It is the joint biggest banana skin with Blyth at home to Bury, also level 7 at home to level 9, although I suspect Bury will have more fans than Blyth!

I hadn't seen that one. Looks like Bury are unbeaten in their division while Blyth are in transition - they might actually fancy their chances.
