So a 2nd statement win in the matter of 7 days. This even more so than the Ashton win. As Bumble might say we battered them and it could and perhaps should have 7 or 8, admittedly they could have had 1 or 2. Wishing Jameel a quick and full recovery but Jake was immense. He has a calmness in possession and thought which helped those to his side and those in front. Whilst up top Leo was immense. It’s very hard to believe he’s only 18 the way he bullied their defence. He appears to have all the attributes (Height, Speed, Strength, Finishing) for a successful career and if he can remain fit then I believe he can play at a very high level. So all-in-all one of the best performances for years at Nethermoor. It’s a shame that Reece couldn’t see beyond himself. Think he needs to be moved on.

Are we allowed to get excited yet? Because I am.
I think that "missing ingredient" that I mentioned a few weeks ago was most definitely Leo Farrell. He looks like a man playing against children and provides a focal point in attack that, for all their qualities, the other forwards simply can't. When I first saw him, I thought he was going to be one of those big, strong guys who causes chaos but has little control over events. I was wrong there. He causes chaos but he has the ability to take advantage of that chaos. He looked utterly unstoppable against what seemed a capable defence.
The rest of the team is starting to gel now, too. Losing Ible was a blow, but Lawlor and Mbeka were a formidable partnership who had total control over Hyde's forward line, and what's more, both can play. The ball was moved forward with accurate, controlled passes, not panicked hoofs, and some of the spells of possession were wonderful to watch. The midfield, too, looked more in control than I've seen for years. Ekpolo and Moke are another great partnership there, but I'm really excited to see more of Jack Emmet. He's going to be a very important player as he builds his fitness through the year.
I know there are a number of strong sides in the division, that Hyde would have been a different proposition at their place, and that Farrell will likely return to Barnsley in the new year, but if that side can stay fit for the season then we'll be right up there and more than a match for anybody.

Anyone else watch the NPL goals show when we beat Hyde 4-0. Watch Ilkeston v Whitby and NPL's final score at the end of their highlights. We must have a big squad to be in two places at once .
