Well that was worth the trip. Very exciting game, Whitby looked well drilled and dangerous on the counter while we dominated possession. We looked a bit sloppy in the penalty area but thoroughly deserved the 3 points and deserved reward for the supporters that travelled. Up to fourth now and five wins on the bounce. Very encouraging stuff!

Crikey it was cold not helped by the strong wind and I was surprised really at the number who had travelled. As to the game, I think the word for the Guiseley performance is dogged they stuck to the task even though there were some obvious tired bodies and minds after Saturdays epic performance, and our strong bench is a brilliant asset, making us to my mind a formidable squad.

Really good result especially coming from behind.
Well done Ollie Brown on his first senior goal and what a time to get it.
Well done too to all those who travelled.
The number of regulars on holiday, self included, meant it wasn’t financially viable to run a Supporters Club coach on this occasion. Hopefully this will prove a rare event, although midweek games are invariably a challenge financially.
Apologies to anyone inconvenienced but thanks to those willing to car share that was hopefully kept to a minimum.
More results like last night can only help the situation.
Onwards and upwards (as Tugger would say)

A great comeback win last night against a side who were well organised and worked hard all night. The game was limited on clear cut chances despite us having a lot of the play, the Whitby defence wasn’t giving much up and after their early goal they sat back and defended their lead well. Jake Charles opened the scoring after 15 minutes. We had a few opportunities but our shots were often straight at Bland or blocked on their way through to his goal. Farrell nearly equalised with a deflected shot but it dropped just wide of the post. Longbottom caused panic in the home back line when his tantalising cross hit a home defender and scurried past Bland but he managed to recover and stop it going over the line. Whitby had a big chance in the final first half minute but Gibson lashed wide. The second half took a while to get going, again similar to the first half we had a lot of the ball but couldn’t find a way through. Odunston picked out Lawlor in the box after 20 minutes but the defender couldn’t get enough on his shot and Bland easily saved the effort. Charles had a massive chance to double his side’s lead when he was free on goal with Cracknell but his shot cannoned off the post! Six minutes later we were level. Ackroyd, fresh from the bench, finished well after a scramble in the box with Bland wrong footed. Emmett nearly found the second but his shot went just over. Then a crazy few seconds followed, a corner was well saved by Farrell before the Lions countered and Odunston nearly took full advantage of hesitation in the home back line but Bland made a good recovery save. Emmett again nearly found the winner after a ball forward was punched clear but it only fell to the midfielder and his chipped effort went just wide. As the clock ticked into injury time we found the winner, another scramble in the box but there was Brown for his first senior Guiseley goal, his initial effort was blocked but he made sure to finish at the second attempt. A scruffy winner but well deserved goal for the full back who has been coming closer and closer to scoring all season! A hard earned but well deserved win! Well played Guiseley. Onto 1874 Northwich at home on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Great result, at half time it sounded like we were playing fine but the hosts were holding us out well, and a combination of keeping at it and strong substitutions got us our rewards. I think this speaks not just to the recruitment of quality but of good characters, and clearly morale is very high at the moment. Coming close in a game like Blyth and then coming from behind in a game like this is a good direction to be going in

Yes, a great result. We were by some distance the better side but spent an hour chasing the game due to poor defending and, indeed, almost presented them with a second goal but fortunately they hit the post. We showed character to keep pressing them despite not really penetrating, despite all our possession. The game really changed with the substitutions. As we started to run out of ideas, Ackroyd and Emmett really changed the dynamic and made a real difference. All credit to Bower for making a strategic difference.
