Didn't seem to be at the races for most of the game against a very good Morpeth side but we still managed to salvage a draw even after their third wonder goal which is what good sides do. Eight unbeaten now so bring on Worksop and Scunthorpe! Video and Images

A lucky draw!! We just weren’t firing on all cylinders. Some of our passing was sloppy and Mark made the right decisions in bringing on the subs. Morpeth played well and am sure they will feel they should have had the win. Onward and upwards.

Morpeth were lively from the start and they’re no 9 a handful. They’d had a poor start but recent wins against Stockton, Ashton, Hyde and a draw away to Hebburn suggests they’re improving.
Odd game but as Mark said it’s been a hectic schedule and some people running on empty. Need to stiffen up the defence as leaking too many goals. Thought the new left back looked good with a good cross on him. Big test Saturday now.

Yes, very lucky indeed. A point gained rather than 2 points lost. Without Lufudu we had very little width to our play and apart from the goals we did not force the Morpeth 'keeper to make a save. Poor defending and little midfield creativity. With Worksop and Scunthorpe to come, a big improvement is needed.

Different with Ackroyd on the right, but did he not put in the crosses for our two first half goals? Good to have so many options. Ridehalgh looked totally secure when he came on, I'm excited for him, and glad Thewlis is back. Prince wasn't at his best, think he'll be happy for no midweek game next week.

I was surprised by how good Morpeth were, though if I’d known they’d had the wins they had just recently, that wouldn’t have been the case. They gave as good as they got, and looked a better team than I had previously imagined. To only draw the game was disappointing, but it must have been a terrific game for any neutrals, and the grandstand finale from Guiseley ended the game on thrilling note.
(That was a pretty dull post for me, but I didn’t want the game to just pass by without a comment because game really had its moments, and Morpeth let us play without trying to kick us in the air. Come to think of it, I can’t remember any team from the North East ever doing that to us whereas a few teams from the North West have given us aggro on and off the pitch in recent years).

I know what you mean as I want to post too. It was a great example of the entertainment we are getting at the moment. From our perspective we had the odd sloppy pass and moment the. Were royally punished by Foalle. We looked the stronger side though and Morpeth’s third was an incredible strike. On another night we would have run out easy winners I think. (This post is much duller than yours)

A hard earned point at home to Morpeth last night, a side who played well on the night and were fully deserving of a draw. Whilst we were not at our best it was pleasing to see the character from the side, a side that refuses to give up and fights until the end and it reaped rewards last night with an injury time equaliser. Morpeth started the game the better side, the first half took a while to see the first chance created with Dowling stinging the palms of Cracknell with a powerful shot. A few minutes before Johnson couldn't connect with a teasing ball from Ackroyd but it was the visitors who took the lead on the 20 minute mark. Jack Foalle finished neatly into the bottom corner after being found at the back post. This did seem to wake us up and we applied a lot of pressure on the Morpeth backline but were struggling to find a way through. It game just after the half hour mark when Ackroyd found Longbottom in the six yard box, the striker struck his seventh goal of the campaign from close range. Then four minutes later we were in front for the first time on the night, Longbottom again finishing off an Ackroyd cross with a backpost downward header. As we were going in at the break with a lead Foalle had other ideas and got his second of the night taking advantage of a slip and finishing into the bottom corner. Just after Cracknell had made a stunning save to deny James from close range Morpeth took the lead again. A corner was cleared as far as Hickey who unleashed a terrific volley into the top corner with Cracknell well beaten. A batch of subsitutions followed but clear cut chances were few and far between, Thewlis came closest to equalising when his curling shot took a deflection off Longbottom going just past the post. Then in injury time it was 3-3 and Thewlis was the man in the right place at the right time to convert from close range. A point we perhaps wouldn't have taken before the game but one which was greatly received after a tough battle with the Highwaymen. We move on to Worksop Town at home on Saturday. Come on Guiseley!
