Happy coach on the way home after negotiating a classic after the Lord Mayors Show situation with a thoroughly deserved if unspectacular win.
With the swirling wind and rain and slick 3G pitch we never quite looked in total control of the ball but offered far more threat than Basford in front of a measly 212 crowd.
Consolidates our place in the top 5 so that we can happily now concentrate on Trophy and FA cup games knowing we are in a good place.
Job done.

Superb result in tough circumstances. Sounds like the performance was very professional.
Gosh we’re in good form aren’t we… definitely up a notch from previous attempts. I think we’re one of the best sides in the division right now and with more than a quarter of the season gone already and some insane budgets around us, I couldn’t be happier really.

Yeah, even first half with little to work either keeper until we scored the first, a lovely low cross into the box which Will gently directed into the bottom corner.
Then as Basford pressed we broke away with Will again finishing really well past the keeper.
Second half the rain came down, or more swirled around and both teams huffed but rarely threatened and the game pertered out. A good workmanlike performance scoring two and keeping another clean sheet.
Well done to all who were there.

A big win that last night and credit to the team for carrying on from where they left off on Saturday with another victory. Basford have had a good season and looked a threat last night without really troubling Joe Cracknell. Ekpolo had the first effort which rolled wide of the post. Deeney nearly made an error he would have regretted when Moke’s chipped ball slipped out of his grasp despite being under no pressure. With 25 minutes gone Longbottom had a good chance to break the deadlock when Lufudu’s lofted cross was only half cleared to the striker who was free on the edge of the box but he couldn’t get the ball out from underneath his feet and the chance was gone. Lufudu forced Deeney into a save with his curled effort but his next contribution would break the deadlock. The pacey winger’s slide rule pass deceived all in the Basford backline and Longbottom stabbed the ball in with a nonchalant finish. Mike nearly made it 2-0 but his shot flew just wide. A minute later the Lions’ lead was doubled when Longbottom finished off Johnson’s through ball. The second half started with us on top when Ekpolo stung the palms of Deeney in the home goal. Mancinello came close with a long range shot but it went just over. Lawlor made a brilliant last ditch challenge to stop Uvegas run through on goal. Aideyan nearly pulled one back too with an overhead kick but it dropped just over. Deeney kept out Ackroyd and Johnson with a good double save in what proved to be the last of the action on a wet Nottinghamshire night. Well played Guiseley! Onto Bamber Bridge at home on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB
