Not a great spectacle but given how depleted we are particularly on the bench a point gained against a well organised Ilkeston who would have gone above us with a win.
Decent setup at Ilkeston to be fair, something we can wish for, albeit they have more scope in terms of space.
We are nobody’s pushover for sure.

A hard earned point in a game of few moments, you had a feeling that had it have lasted a little bit longer we could have taken all three today. Mbeka could have taken the lead in the first few minutes, Mike's corner found the defender in space at the near post but he couldn't get a telling touch on it and Ilkeston cleared. 23 minutes in the hosts took the lead, Cursons shaking off the attentions of Mbeka and slotting past Cracknell. 14 minutes later Cursons should have had a second when he lobbed Cracknell but his effort landed on the roof of the net. With six minutes left we were level, Lufudu raced through and struck well to equalise. The second half was a slow burner, Danny Boshell saw red leaving Danny King in charge on the touchline with Mark Bower sat in the stands serving a one match ban. It was Ilkeston who were having the better of the action, Kirby-Moore shooting goalwards forcing Cracknell into a save and Cursons saw a shot smash off the top of the bar. The game petered out after that excitement until the final few minutes when it hotted up again, Lufudu nearly getting his second of the afternoon but his shot went just wide. Ridehalgh nearly had his first goal for the club too when after a scramble in the box he lashed just wide. After adding on four minutes just seconds before the referee called the game to, what felt like, an early end. With an umber of players out that could prove to be a good point. Well played lads! Onto Armthorpe Welfare away on Tuesday night. Come on Guiseley! AB

Managed to hold on to our playoff position which is miraculous given the absentees and number of games the team have played. Let’s rest the key players on Tuesday and fingers crossed we can get most of the injured lads back for our FA cup match with Stevenage in two weeks. Proud of you Lions 🦁

Decent point on the road. Not at our best and some individual errors crept in. Navigating the league while preparing for the FA Cup has always been a challenge (Darlington 1-5 anyone?)
Happy that we improved in the second half and we might have snuck a late winner but in truth it wouldn’t have reflected the game.
Weirdly warm day and nice set up at Ilkeston made it a good day out. In the playoff places and First Round of the FA Cup (and youth cup), is as much as I think we could have hoped for.
Onwards and upwards.

Good point, once again shows the team won’t be beaten even if our away form isn’t the best and the squad is creaking. Send the academy now and take two weeks to recuperate and work on the things that have had to wait because of all the games… and regardless of Stevenage, let’s hope we are able to include more senior players in the matchday squads soon and recapture our best form.

Can’t be more proud of the team yesterday. After all the games they have played recently with little chance to change things they battled hard for a point and had the chance to win it. Good battle between two teams fighting for a playoff place. First time visit for me to Ilkeston and was very impressed. Onwards and upwards.
