I’m still adjusting to the world where you can buy beer and watch the game at the same time - it has only really appeared over the last couple of years. The bar was the only place to buy a beer when we were in the National League and we all survived and had a good time (football apart). In any case it’s not the story that matters in my opinion. We win three on the bounce after an immense cup penalty shootout exit. With an injury hit squad we not only keep things moving forward, but we also keep clean sheets. We are not steamrollering anyone but are working hard as a collective with moments of class that are making the difference. We have a good group and management team that are finding ways to adjust when things are not going well. This is one of the most enjoyable runs since that 2019/2020 season, and you feel the team, with players to return to the fold it feels like there are more gears to go through yet. I’m sure the licence will resolve itself soon - no matter how many googly’s are thrown. You know I agree with all of this - just to say I had completely forgotten about the good team we had in the 19/20 season! We looked ready to chase the playoffs that year too… if there’s a new pandemic I’ll know the universe wants to hold us down.

We could really use Aaron Martin right now. Seems a bit ridiculous to say when we've won 3 in a row and Will has 4 goals in 2 games, but it still seems the one thing we lack is a real powerhouse forward who can do a bit of everything.
It also seems a shame to have a team this good but know that it's almost certainly going to be playoffs or nothing. Feels like it could be similar to that season when we finished on 90-something points but still came second to Chester. Although I guess even thinking like that is getting a bit carried away just now. We've a couple of tough away games to come and any sort of top 5 finish would be brilliant, especially after the last few years.
Since there seems to be some criticism of the bar and clubhouse (which I didn't go near and can't comment on), a word of praise for the outlet on the other side of the ground. Normally the "lions diner" is a bit of a shambles but they seemed to cope quite well with the crowd on Saturday and I was able to buy a cup of tea in comfortably less than 15 minutes. It really is like the good old days!
