HALF TIME Guiseley 1 Whitley Bay 0
Tight game with few chances - tense atmosphere. We have passed the ball quite well in very warm conditions. Burton has been creative and Tuck lively. Best chance other than the goal fell to Needham who's close range effort was deflected away by the goalkeeper's boot. Whtiley have had one good effort which went narrowly wide. Tense second half to come.

52 mins GOAL - Guiseley corner from the left by Merris and the ball broke to Liam Needham on the Guiseley right who ran into the box and calmly passed the ball into the bottom left hand corner for 2-0.

Good performance today, very comfortable in the end. Can't really pick any one player out as the Man of the Match.
Still think it was a stonewall penalty though (and a sending off).
Let's hope we can carry this kind of performance into our league games

Let's hope we can carry this kind of performance into our league games Tuck worked his socks off and deserved a goal, but we were again struck by how much the whole team changes when big Steve is on the pitch. Worsnop's handling was excellent too. Good game, they started each half hard and fast but our movement was of a higher class. And their fans!!! I thought I was at an away game!

Dave Merris was tireless too today, just wish he'd take it on and have a shot sometimes but he is always looking for the unselfish ball!!

Tuck, with his effort and touches, was the best player for me too. Not having seen the last few games I'm not sure what you've all been grumbling about. Until Burton's goal I thought Bay were going to out-play and out-muscle Guiseley. Then the team seemed to give as good as they got and it became a good competition in places. Whitely Bay must be disappointed with their defending at both goals. It appeared that Burton should have been given off-side before he made it into the box for the penalty appeal. Briggs also didn't look out of place at right back.
