If we could have sorted out our finishing in the first half, it could have been a different game. Second half was yours tho, no dispute. It's the story of our season thus far unfortunately.
Your guys seemed unimpressed with the ref, and I'm sure they'll fill you in on why, but I thought he was just poor, not biased. Decisions were given incorrectly, or not given at all, for both sides throughout the night. He seemed to be watching a different game than most of us, regardless of the loyalties.
Congrats on the win. You were one of the better sides I've seen this season.

Cheers regdab, but for most of the game it just seemed like the ref had some money on a draw, giving you every decision in the first half and ignoring one of the most blatant handballs I have seen for a while. The standard of refereeing this season just seems to be worse than ever. But for the finishing you are a decent enough side, my car was in more danger of being hit than the back of the net in the first half. And thank your keeper for the shocker that he had!
Back to Guiseley, everyone played brilliantly and we were well worth the win in the end. Chris Holland and Liam Needham impress me more and more with every game. Once again the Guiseley faithful were on fine form as well.
Oh and anyone who complains that the home support are quiet at Fort Neth should go to a home game at Retford.

Loan debut for that keeper. He's been in nets for Eastwood for the last few seasons, and is quality. However, for whatever reason you, and a fair few of the home crowd who only have eyes for one keeper, didn't get to see that tonight.
As for noise, well we used to, but times have changed, and those who did can't be arsed any more. Marginally more vociferous away from home, as we may demonstrate.

Guiseley staged an impressive rearguard action in between two goals scored at either end of this first ever league game between the two clubs at a spartan Cannons Park. Fielding the same team that returned from Durham with three points at the weekend the Lions got off to the best possible start when first Mick Godber shot straight at Jon Worsnop when it looked easier to score and then Craig Bentham fed Steve Burton down the right flank and although his cross evaded James Walshaw it found the head of Lee Tuck who directed the ball into the far corner with just five minutes gone.
Little did we know, but Godber had set the standard for the home side as they pressured the Guiseley rearguard early on but displayed shooting skills that wouldn’t have given a barn door sleepless nights; even though the man in the middle did all he could to assist their cause with James Cotterill picking up a caution for daring to win the ball in a tackle, whilst Walshaw was clipped from behind in the area but had his protestations refuted by the man in black.
Steve Burton sealed the victory in the 74th minute chasing down a long clearance from Worsnop, he pushed the ball past the on-rushing keeper and then walked the ball into the empty net to the delight of the large travelling contingent. And despite a late flurry of substitutions the Badgers were sent back to their set by the Lions who claimed the game, and the match with a thoroughly professional performance that moves them four places up the table to third, with games in hand on the teams around them.
Team: 1 - Jon Worsnop 2 - Anthony Lloyd 3 - Dave Merris 4 - Chris Holland 5 - Danny Ellis 6 - James Cotterill 7 - Steve Burton 8 - Craig Bentham 9 - Lee Tuck 10 - James Walshaw 11 - Liam Needham Subs – all unused 12 - Harpal Singh 14 - Luke Malcher 15 - Nathan Joynes 16 - Lee Askham 17 - Aaron Ratchford

Astonishing refereeing - at least one stonewall penalty refused, countless decisions all over the pitch that left us absolutely bewildered.
Their keeper couldn't kick, and his increasing nervousness with his poor clearances probably led mentally to the howler that gave us the second goal.
We really struggled for width on the left - Wally and even Burts running the channels but neither is a left footer and so the ball was often lost looking for a different option rather than whipping it into the box.
Pluses - Burts doing 90 mins again, clean sheet, Wally keeping his cool despite some shocking decisions going against him
Minuses - still not convinced about this formation for the way it has strikers playing on the wings, too much nervously lumping it long rather than getting the ball under control.
Retford was a nice little ground with very friendly locals and good parking. All of which is more than I am led to expect from Frickley on Saturday.

Yes, Frickley has very little good, grinding lice and frenzied barking yokels.

'Grinding lice'?!? Is this a particularly nasty kind of head infestation peculiar to remote, uncivilised areas of Yorkshire?

Ground lice pudding is a local delicacy.

Imperious perfrormances from Ellis and Cotty last night. Got to agree with the flymo about Needham. He is all over the place and is a major addition to the midfield this season.
As for some of the decisions - I just don't get it! Playing the physical football we do, we are always going to pick up yellow cards and give away fouls, but last night's ref took the biscuit. I don't know what to say.
As for Retford FC - what a soulless place! I didn't hear any of their supporters during the game and most looked like extras from Holby City. I'll never criticise the lack of atmosphere at Fort Nethermoor again. Retford played the ball around well, but then just hoofed it up to a striker who seemed more intent on smashing bobflymo's car window. Their skipper was probably one of the worst players I've seen at this level (along with 'Wingnut!')
Looking forward to Frickley on Saturday, in particular the radioactive slagheap on the far side of the pitch (and no - that's not that lass who works in the canteen. I'm much less complimentary about her)

I'm not looking forward to Frickley at all. Can't believe Dave Merris' dad, Otleybard and that terrifying Susan talked us into it.

Frickley away is the only non-league game that I can recall where I actually felt scared and relieved to leave. Didn't the ground also feature in a national newspaper's list of the top(?) ugliest places to visit or something like that.
