Sorry forgot to respond to bfcpauls comments about Skiba. This is the same lad that your manager was prepared to move heaven and earth for{by the way we got him for less than you were offering him}Judging by your and other peoples comments John Reed must be as clueless as us.

firstly Wayne you wouldn't know me if you fell over me I have absolutely no involvement with Guiseley other than a supporter of many years standing apologise to whoever you think I am. I did not criticise Tuck merely said it was a good substitution at the time which it was. Neither did I mention Knight or Dickinson in my posting nor have I ever. I happen to like what this management team is trying to do football wise merely doubt if this team is at the moment capable of this, not a criticism just an observation as it also is of Skiba I dont think he as yet has the experience and can at times look worryingly naive.

I think we all feel very disappointed about the result yesterday. especially since the team really battled and stuck at it right until the end. However, as just a mere supporter I thought the team did everything it could to get us a result against a higher placed team and, as a paying supporter to boot, I felt that I pretty much got value for my money irrespective of the final score. I'm sure that it's all going to turn around, and I'm in no rush to find any scapegoats or over react.
As regards Piotr Skiba, we (the supporters) and he have not quite got off to a very good start, but as long he wears our shirt he deserves our encouragement and support and the last thing he needs to feel is that he's out there against our will and under a cloud. We sometimes get a bit too hurtful in our personal criticism, but there's another human being at the receiving end of our scorn and we do well to remember that sometimes...
The record over the last ten games is pretty good despite this week, and there's a lot of teams below who'd happily trade their place for ours...
If it had been one of our players instead of a Buxton player who hit that late strike yesterday, then everything would have been forgiven and we'd be saying that we'd had a very good day. Sometimes the difference between elation and despair merely rests on little things like that...

Wayne
For everybody's sake, please don't let yourself get dragged into the quagmire of chuntering that follows any defeat. We are as brassed off as you are when the team loses - probably more so, as we're less able to change our allegience - and the Forum exists so that as supporters we can express our views and frustrations about the situation in a relatively-harmless way.
Some of the opinions expressed are well thought out, others mere knee-jerk responses, but both are from groups of people with Guiseley's interests at heart. Others still are designed merely to rock the boat; leave them to us, we've had plenty of experience dealing.
You and Steve are in a privileged position: you're able to sign, release, coach, select, instruct and motivate the players. Do that successfully and you'll be heroes to every genuine Guiseley fan on the Forum. You don't have to justify every decision you make; most of us appreciate that each one is made taking into account circumstances of which we have less knowledge than you.
Wins over Leek and Witton will turn this weekend's criticism into the cyberspace equivalent of chip wrapping. By all means read the Forum to find out what we're thinking, and use the Website to keep us informed of things we should know, but please concentrate your efforts on getting Guiseley promoted.
Best Wishes OB

Well said OB but we do need a ball winner in midfield I think then we can let Richard Dunning, Lee Pugh and Mark Betts create the chances instead of fighting for every ball

Im not bevvied up Ashley246 im stone cold sober learnt my lesson from last time, im just passionate about what i do as is Steve and if i have to come on here to defend myself,Steve or any of the players i will its just who i am.Many thanks Yeadoner and OB,always the voice of reason and you are right about so many things, its just hard sometimes to keep standing back and listening to all the negativity. On Piotr its a real shame when Guiseley fans are shouting abuse at him,but thats something that hes got to accept and get on with as hard as that may be.In my opinion he will be a big success here if people give him a chance, how many of you have actually spoke to the lad or welcomed him to the club but hey what do i know

Quite possibly! However all I'm saying is that on the times I've seen him he's never impressed! He does have a memorable name though and I think that sticks in peoples minds more than the goalkeeping skills! Anyway, we've got Scott and we're more than happy with him. He can be a bit of an idiot from time to time but he's far superior! Especially on crosses...

Seems to me that the problem in the last two games against Frickley and Buxton has been that we have been prevented from playing the expansive game we are capable of by hard working physical teams that have 'bullied' us out of the game, particularly in midfield. If we can't get the ball to the wide men they can't create any decent chances. I'd be interested in Wayne's views on this. We can still easily make the play offs - but we need to scrap and grind out a couple of victories to get back on track. At this stage of the season its about winning, not how we play.

Finally. Thanks cdp for your comments.I think you have got it spot on.Frickley have been playing like that for 3 months and that is why they are edging away from trouble when they looked dead and buried. In fairness i didnt think Buxton were great, yes they are a strong side but if we dont concede a silly goal after 12 minutes and if Aron scores with his header from 6 yards i think we would have won and be in 4th place and things would have looked a lot brighter.Dont know what you think but they were on top in the first half but it was all us in the second and the conditions had a lot to do with that.I also thought that we played some great football in patches in the second half.Leek tomorrow will be another hard game as they are fighting for their lives and we have to make sure we match them physically before we can start to play our football. You are right about getting the ball wide too, when we do we look a real threat but we have to try and incorporate some of Frickleys desire and work rate to overcome sides who come to try and stifle us which happens pretty much in every game because we are Guiseley and we are a big scalp for the majority of teams in this league.
