For the benefit of anyone not at rainy Nethermoor, today's team is Skiba, Hay, Ellis, Sturdy, Camfield, Pugh, Dunning, Noble, Fernandez, Wilford, Hanson. Subs are Agus, Tuck and Dunne. Hanson has had one decent chance in the first few minutes but blasted over.

Half time 0-0. We are still in this game thanks to a string of good saves by Piotr Skiba, who has been excellent. On the two occasions he has been beaten, the bar and a clearance off the line by a Guiseley defender have rescued us. Witton have been much the better side with excellent passing and movement ahead of a very solid looking defence. We have had two chances, Sturdy headed over from a corner and Hanson shot over when put through in the opening minutes. Heavy rain has created swamplike conditions which is hampering both teams. We have fought hard but, in my view have not marked tightly enough, especially in midfield and have given the ball away too cheaply. We are fortunate to still be in the game, let's hope we pick up in the second half.

After being outclassed in the first half, we were much better in the second. The workrate improved, we closed down Witton much more and had the better of the play on an inceasingly difficult surface, which was something of a mudbath towards the end. Witton scored against the run of play after an hour, following a fifteen minute period when we had been on top. Thereafter the team gave it a real go for the remainder of the half. Hanson missed an excellent chance and there were a number of other half chances before Pugh stepped up with a classy finish from the edge of the box in the last minute of normal time.
Overall, I thought we were well worth a point on the second half display, against a very good Witton side. Skiba was man of the match for countless good saves and without him we would have been dead and buried by half time. The rest of the team worked very hard and showed great character in the second half. Very much a point won, rather than two lost.
The next week or so looks like its going to be crucial - I think we need a minimum of seven points from the next three games to keep in touch with the play offs candidates.

Come on guys! You were saved by a class strike in the dying seconds of the game. Taking it over 90 mins you should have been buried. Even after we scored we had a 1 on 1 where the keeps made an excellent save to keep the score down to 0-1.
That said a point a piece it is and seeing how Fleetwood dropped points too - not such a bad result for us either.
And given we brought more than a 100 speccies to the game I suspect your treasurer may be quite happy too!

Can't argue with that - I thought you were far and away the strongest side we've faced this season (including three Blue Square teams) and without the leveller of the conditions could well have battered us.
Having said that, we hung on in and eventually caused you a few problems, though I'm glad the equalizer came as late as it did. Thought the ref, too, was a cut above the grinning patsies we've grown used to.
Anyway, good luck in all but one of your remaining games.

Even after we scored we had a 1 on 1 where the keeps made an excellent save to keep the score down to 0-1. Only happened because our defender was fouled and the ref missed it completely!!!!!!

CDP once again youve got it spot on,Witton dominated possession in the 1st half but i would argue that james had the best chance of the half,After some strong words at half time we were dominant in the second half and reduced Witton to counter attacking football, and yes they could have scored 1 on 1 but james also had the best chance of the 2nd half too.A great strike from Pughy earnt us a point and on balance a point was probably the right result, hopefully this will now push us on and help us believe in ourselves a little more and i would say that the aim is to try and get 9 points in a week and that would see us right in the thick of the promotion race.

I made my return to Nethermoor after a long spell at uni and I have to say today was a cracking game for the neutral (even though I'm Guiseley through and through). Witton had lots of chances and I was constantly praying we'd keep them out and grab a goal at the other end. We got a great result today and showed we can hang with the league leaders, albeit the awesome goal coming in late stoppage time but well done lads - if we show this sort of grit and determination in all our remaining games this season we can make a fist of getting in to the play offs.
