re Fylde as a template for development of our place as suggested in a previous post-----no thanks----think it represents much of modern construction ie stadium is completely soulless---super clubhouse though.

I was talking more about the set goal the whole unite together and do it sort of attitude they’re going for I actually thought their stadium was alright, if a little windy. But I agree it wouldn’t be suitable for our needs. But they did balance investment in bricks and mortar and infrastructure with the development of the team, and as a result were in a much better position than we found ourselves when they were promoted. As I hope we’ve learned, being a National League club is about more than just the players on the field.

Again, the details of their plan were irrelevant to my point, my point was that they saw what they wanted put a long term plan in place and went for it.

Long term planning good, short term get rich quick schemes bad.

Guiseley Reserves are being renamed Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC. Yeah, me neither, adding brackets is hardly a radical move is it?

Far from it - it's resurrecting the name of a ground they haven't played in for forty-odd years (half the lifespan of much of their fanbase).
The Premiership equivalent would be if the Champions became known as Manchester (Clowes Street) City.

Good point OB, the former pitch now houses a gym and cricket complex so will never see footy again. Bradford Park Avenue (Horsfall Playing Fields Stadium) would be more appropriate.

Coincidentally, the Horsfall currently includes a running track and several hundred Kevin Hector complexes.

Bard, The Horsfall has always been a running track, home of Airedale Harriers, originally with a cricket pitch, not soccer, in the middle. It was also used by Bradford Schools for the inter-Grammar School Athletics Competitions.

It was also the home of Bradford Ladies hockey club many years ago

So how long have B(PA) been there?
I think when they’ve spent more years at the Horsfall than their original location they should be obliged by the FA to rename to Bradford (Cemetery Road).

Not sure but they first moved in with Bradford City at Valley Parade following their failure to be re-elected to the Football League Fourth Division in 1968. (No automatic promotion in those days) Think they spent a couple of seasons at VP playing in the Northern Premier League, which was the highest level of non-league at the time, before going into liquidation and that's when the supporters started a club with the same name but playing Sunday League football.
Eventually moved to Saturday footy in the West Riding County Amateur League (I think) before joining the North West Counties League and playing at Bramley Rugby League ground (long gone!) and Batley RLFC due to ground grading requirements before the relocation to Horsfall, which to be fair they have improved from the tip it used to be. Link to the former club (IMO and many others) is therefore tenuous to say the least.
They have installed the perimeter fence and if memory serves the white seats in the main stand came from Lords Cricket Ground when the MCC decided to upgrade one of the stands.

Not bad knowledge bigj, not re-elected end of 1969/70 season, played NPL 2 seasons at Park Avenue and another 2 at Valley Parade, Moved to Horsfall Stadium for the 1995/96 season.
Unfortunatly we play you before we start work putting a fence around the pitch inside the running track which will allow supporters to get closer, I believe the dugouts are going to be put on the dessing room side as well, supporters wont be allowed to stand in front of the stand though.
